Comfortable Great Fit
I had the opportunity to try these shoes on in a local store. I usually wear a 7.5 or 8. The size 8 I tried on in the store with BARE FEET fit perfectly and I thought were super comfortable BUT I know I will be wearing these shoes with socks especially heavier socks. I opted to order a half size larger-8.5-and very glad I did. It gives me just enough room to add socks without feeling too short or too tight. They do not look too large at all. The change in size was minimal but enough to make a difference. I would suggest ordering up a 1/2 size as these seem to run small/short. I am sure once I break these shoes in I will have no complaints. Comfortable with good arch support.

The best!
Comfortable and wide to box. I hate when my toes/feet feel smashed. They're made well and will last me years.

Good purchase for Desert light hiking
I bought these to take on a hiking trip to the Mojave desert. They did not disappoint. Very comfortable, light weight and did not overheat my feet. Good grip and traction over desert environment, sand, and boulders. Most of the reviews I read indicated that the shoe was a little small. I ordered them a half size larger than my usual size and they were a perfect fit. I am very picky about my hiking shoes and these deserve a really good rating. Worked for me and my needs.

WELL CONSTRUCTED FOR THE PRICE
I found this particular granite color to be superior in construction to another color of the same type that had good reviews, one that I had previously purchased and returned. I added some purple LL laces, which went well with the dark gray granite color. Excellent heel cushioning, good fit for my 7.5 foot, good padding around heel, light weight. One thing that could be improved would be adding more forefoot cushioning. I tried several insoles but ultimately added more cushioning by inserting a super foot insole over the thin foam insole that came with the shoe.

Super comfy-good support - bit big
I ordered and returned a few hiking shoes before I ordered these. These are the most comfortable I've tried - right out of the box - and have good support. They seem a little big, but I'm keeping them in my usual size. I decided it's better to have them a bit long instead of jamming my toes. I like the granite color, but the purple barely shows up, and an almost entirely dark gray shoe looked a little dull. So I spruced them up a bit by adding some purple laces - the elastic Lock Laces, which I love - and now I'm happy. I actually ordered the Boulder color first, but I didn't like the colors in person, so returned them and ordered granite color.

Good and Bad
Merrell has definitely fallen in the quality department. I have an old pair of sirens that I have stepped in something and it has eaten the tread and I'm not sure how waterproof they are anymore. It's hiking and hunting season so it's time try getting a new pair again. Last year I bought probably 8 pairs and didn't like any of them (all mids because I prefer the ankle support). Tried one last time. The Yokota is great! The shoes it well padded at the top, the tread is good, they fit nice. Other side of the coin, the insert is garbage. It's like cardboard. They are stiff, thin and have zero squish. The arch is terribly high, goes almost to the far side of your foot and part of the way into your heel. Useless. So on top of buying a pair of shoes that cost me almost $100 I now have to buy an insert for them because I do like the shoe itself. I'm really disappointed in Merrell. I raved about my hiking boots for so long but I think I'll change my tune after this and probably try a different newer brand next time.

Great for fat people!
I'm very overweight and sometimes have a hard time buying shoes that fit properly. I usually take a size 9.5 for shoes and in boots I take a size 10, I chose size 10 for these hiking shoes and they fit perfect so I would suggest that anyone should go up half a size. The reason I mentioned being overweight is because the tongue of the shoes are sometimes so skinny that they do not cover the front part of the ankle well and the fit can look very sloppy. For me these shoes fit perfectly and they are extremely comfortable. I'm also accustomed to going barefoot or wearing barefoot shoes so my feet are wider and these shoes were still very accommodating. Due to the flexible material used my feet feel snug but not squished. I have not yet used the shoes for hiking or walking, they just got to the door now and I tried them on so I will update if needed, but so far I'm pretty excited to take them out for a try.

Disappointing
Merrells are my go to walking shoe because they are usually quick to arrive, good quality, hard wearing and comfortable. The shoes took over 2 weeks to arrive. They don't seem like the usual Merrell quality. The material seems skimpy, the sole is hard with little cushioning and I feel my toe will soon pop through the thin webbing on the top. Not worth the money I paid.
