Works Great in my Saeco Incanto
This filter cartridge has a slightly different design than the original Saeco AquaClean, but it installs the same way and works just fine. Let’s face it, these are simple products containing some activated carbon and resin balls, so they’re overpriced for what they are, but they do effectively filter the water. And good filtered water makes that espresso taste better. I have seen a couple of complaints in the reviews, and at least for me, they didn’t apply. I may have an explanation for how to solve the issues mentioned: Issue 1. The coffee machine does not “recognize” the new filter. My Saeco Incanto is not designed to recognize a new filter cartridge. You have to go into the menu manually and follow the prompts to show the new filter and reset the display to “100% AquaClean.” If you don’t do this and you have run the old filter down to zero, the new filter won’t show on the display. Also, once you go through 8 filters, the machine won’t let you reset to show a new filter without first doing a full decalc. Maybe other Saeco models “recognize” new filters, I don’t know, but the Incanto does not without following these steps. Issue 2. The filter makes the machine strain and/or it won’t dispense water to make espresso. It is very important to follow the basic installation steps. Shake the filter cartridge, submerge it upside down in water, and gently squeeze the sides to purge any air bubbles from the filter. Then install the cartridge in the water tank and run about 2 cups of hot water through the steam wand. This last step serves two purposes: it primes the pump and removes any air from the system to avoid the straining or lack of water flow that some people observed, and it rinses the filter to remove any off taste that may result from manufacturing residue in the filter material. These issues can occur with any filter cartridge, including the original Saeco AquaClean, if these steps aren’t followed. I hope some of this will be helpful to you Saeco machine owners out there. Now I think I’ll go make myself a nice Caffe Latte. Enjoy!
