First , I have several different pieces of Simax , each of which I use frequently . When this one arrived , I promptly washed it and put it to use that day . I first made enchiladas , hot sausages the next day , and lasagna the following day . I usually rub the thinnest possible film of olive oil ( not necessarily the expensive EVOO ) on the interior , and clean - up is then comparable to a non - stick surface . Second , note that Simax is true borosilicate ( special heat - resistant ) glass ; I don't know of any other readily available glass cookware that is so composed . [ note that even if one buys a name - brand cookware that suggests that it is made of the same material as lab glassware , one is still getting ordinary flint glass with tempering to give some heat resistance . ] This is one of the pieces that has raised ridges on the bottom , and " Bubble " - like structures on the lid. This allows evaporating juices to rise to the top , condense , and baste or moisturize the cooking food . One has to check the individual item descriptions - some Simax has a plain surface on bottom and lid . I have some very large pieces that I use for ham , turkey , roasts , etc. This is an ideal size for everyday use , as I often cook only for the two of us . I hesitated when rating its suitability as a gift ; basically because I consider it "too good to give away" . However , if you know someone who is an avid cook , and will appreciate this , don't be selfish .

To protect the product, the package was firstly expertly made and extremely secure. The item is a fantastic size and clean-up is a breeze. It is a winner, and I can not recommend buying it highly enough. This is the product you need to make a cassarole at a professional level. well worth the double cost.

I can only say get this casserole dish as soon as you can. It was perfect for the mash potato casserole that I made for Christmas. The next day I put the leftovers in the microwave and the container held up perfectly. Get this dish you will be happy that you did.

This is a beautiful oven-to-table serving dish. I mostly use it in a microwave oven, where it works well. Great dish for parties.

Was looking for a versatile pan that would fit in my toaster oven that toasts/bakes/roasts/slow cooks, etc. and this one handles it all while being exceptionally easy to clean. I've baked a ham, slow cooked a pot roast, made chicken and dumplings, baked bread, used the lid to bake pork chops, and used the lid as serving platter, etc, etc, etc.
