Autobiographical
I happened on the movie in French (subtitled). It was so good, devastating, engrossing, tender and loving. When I read the credits, I had to track down the book in English. Amazon came through with what I needed. It reads simply and powerfully. It is a profound book (story). Will be gifting to someone special!

Based on true facts
Beautifully written, based on a true story (the author's own story). Not another holocaust testimonial, but a story about family secrets and how historical events can twist people's lives, even before they are born. Very good translation from its original French.

amazing memoir
This translation from the French of A Secret by child psychiatrist Philippe Grimbert was made into a wonderful film. The memoir is even better. It continues to be a best-seller in France and is a great addition to second-generation literature.
