Digitally remastered and expanded 20th Anniversary edition of the former Smiths vocalist's 1990 album. Bona Drag brings together his first seven singles including 'Suede head'; 'Everyday Is Like Sunday'; 'Interesting Drug', 'The Last of the Famous International Playboys', 'Ouija Board, Ouija Board', 'November Spawned a Monster' and 'Piccadilly Palare' alongside a selection of high quality b-sides from all the singles. With Morrissey's full involvement, the original album has been remastered and expanded with six previously unreleased tracks. Directing the artwork for the reissue, Morrissey has chosen to return the cover art to it's natural color and to update the back and inner artwork with a selection of favorite, hand-picked and rarely-seen photos. 20 tracks. EMI. 2010.

Worth It For The Bonus Tracks Alone
Yes, I have to agree with other more negative reviews about the flimsy packaging. I also don't care for the change in the album cover. Its made to look more "Goth" (I suppose) but I like the original flashy color photo alot better. However, the bonus tracks are really awesome! I wonder why he didn't include them in the original Bona Drag release. As for the original songs being edited, who cares?!Some of the choruses on the original songs on Bona Drag where too repetitive anyway, and thus deserving of a quicker fade out. Who cares that "Ouija Board" had that bit in the middle cut out? Any fan of Morrisseys will have a copy of the original Bona Drag anyway. The big question is: Why doesn't Morrissey allow bonus tracks/demos/rarities on his remasters of The Smiths albums as well?Truly disappointed....

Re-Issue, re-issue, Re-Package, re-package; Satiate the Need
How ironic that Morrissey authorizes an album re-release in cheesy packaging and modified versions of the beloved original tracks. It is like the Smiths song "Paint a Vulgar Picture" except Morrissey hasn't died yet. Talking about the greed of the record company deceiving the buying public with bait of extra tracks and the switch of the classic songs.Bona Drag represents Morrissey's solo career at its very best. It was the album that had a wonderful flow, inspired lyrics and skilled musicianship. Unlike Viva Hate and his later albums, Bona Drag was not recorded as an album but was instead a compilation of his singles and some tracks that were left off of Viva Hate because they didn't work with the album's vibe.As for being "Re-Mastered": It is louder but not really any clearer than the previous releases. The sound quality is best described as "bright" and "tinny". In other words, the sound is loud, high and flat with an oil drum acoustic. It is not any fuller or richer than the CD and less so than the cassette and vinyl formats. In hindsight, I wouldn't have purchased this album and it is only worth buying for the alternate versions and unreleased tracks. If you are looking for a quality version of the Bona Drag album for the songs you know and love, this is not it.Although Morrissey is not a dead star as described in his earlier mentioned Smiths song, he certainly is a fading star. Each album after this one loses a little bit more artistry and magic while each consecutive album gets weaker and weaker. I stopped buying Morrissey's new work after "Your Arsenal" (which itself is fairly weak and uninspired). I lost a great deal of respect for Morrissey when he assembled his rockabilly group and his live shows were clearly desperate contrived displays, surrounded with all the trappings: trite "ROCK 'N ROLL" rebellion of tattooed guitar-smashing wannabees. Replacing talent in exchange for image. So disappointed. So trite.
