I don't normally write reviews nor do I purchase items with no reviews but the description was exactly what I was looking for and the price was excellent. Figured I would take the plunge and let others know my experience. I have a good router and just wanted an affordable repeater to boost the 5gHz signal for my portable devices. I have not used it as a router or AP so this review is strictly as a repeater.Setting it up as a repeater was EXTREMELY simple, instructions were clear and they give options to set it wirelessly (if you have a WPS button on your router) or they supply a cord to use with your laptop to set it up that way. I set up wirelessly and it is literally 4 steps1) before plugging in move switch on device to Repeater mode2) plug in device3) hold down WPS on device for 6 sec. WPS light will flash for two mins4) during the flashing you have 2 mins to hold down the WPS button on your router for 3 secViola! It's done and the device will automatically find the signal. On your portable devices, you now select the new SSID of the repeater and connect using your own router's password. My router is in my basement so my 3rd floor did not get a 5gHz signal and my backyard and garage barely got the 2.4 signal. I placed this on my main floor on the opposite side of my house to where my router is in the basement. With this little device I now have full strength 5gHz in my entire house, backyard, garage and full front yard. I would say signal is roughly 30ft (with 30ft only having barely 1 bar of signal).I'm extremely happy and so glad I took a chance on this device. Hopefully it will last the long haul. If not, I will update this review

Promising unit - nice specs, usable web-interface. One MAJOR flaw though: It has a tricky removable power plug, obviously set up so that the manufacturer can easily swap in different plugs for different countries. Unfortunately, this leads to a fragile electrical connection. The unit powers off if you SLIGHTLY move the unit in the power socket. If this gets fixed (and performance continues to be good), then it's a 5-star piece of hardware!

Unfortunately we've been riddled with WiFi connection issues at our house for some time now.. Our router appeared to not project it's range very well. So we though about getting this range extender.It seemed to correct our speed issues (wasn't even getting 1Mb/s originally...), but it then became a spotty connection. For some reason I couldn't get this extender to be stable. The connection would drop about once a day, and required me to unplug it and plug it back in. A very annoying nuisance to have to do everyday...Long story short, I give this 3 stars because it did work well when it decided to work. My final solution was actually a newer/better router. That's what finally resolved all my problems. Considering this, I connected this extender to the new router. Still had the issues of it dropping once a day and requiring me to unplug it and plug it back in...So, there you have it. I know some have some good luck with this extender. Sadly, I wasn't one of those people.Last Note: Tried a firmware update for the device (which was hard enough to find anyway...) and that update would never take no matter what I did. Perhaps if you can get the firmware to update to the later version, it'll work better for you. But I couldn't apply it no matter what I did to do so.

I purchased this after reading some of the better reviews, sometimes you just ignore the negative comments, sometimes you shouldn't I guess? This thing worked fine when I first used it but soon it was more of a hastle to use. I bought it because when i am outside mowing the lawn or workin in the garage my wifi was very weak, this extended the range nicely. After the first week I found myself having to run back and forth to hit the reset button on the xfinity router, as well as often visiting the http address initially used to install the repeater. I havent used it in awhile. Also my son had issues when using his game system, the better signal wasnt accessible to him, the repeater caused a conflict and it had to be unplugged in order to play his play station without lag.

Works great! Easy setup with apple router. Apple didnt have wps button so i plugged in repeater, selected it from network choices and then entered http address into browser. Less than 3 minutes total. No more dead spots in the house or on the front porch. Great price as well.An added bonus, family and i are going to a lake house with no internet. Kids like to play minecraft and other network games that requires them to be on the same network. We are packing this thing with us and eventhough no internet, kids will be able to play their games in the ap (? I think) mode.

This worked kinda for 6 months then stopped working completely. As a disposable product that's an insanely high price. Even when it did work it didn't work that well. It would only boost the signal in the room you it was in. In any other room even if it was right next to the room with the repeater but far away from the main signal you would couldn't connect to the repeater. I'd spend more upfront for something that actually will last. I would not recommend this to anyone.
