Bowflex Home Gym Power Rod Upgrade Options

Much stouter than the originals. I'm writing this a couple of weeks after purchase and installation, and they're still just as stout as when they arrived.Definitely a game changer if you've maxed out your Bowflex, and are looking to up the challenge, and increase time over tension.Installation is pretty self explanatory. I did use a dead blow mallet to finish lining up the add-on box. It's a tight fit, especially that last 3/4 of an inch.Note: I ordered these in the winter and let them adjust to inside temperature for 48 hours before I used them.

The upgrade is not difficult to install and expands the resistance capacity of the device (I have the Extreme SE). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that one of the rods in my original order snapped during the second exercise I tried after installing it. While this was annoying and an inconvenience, I have had no problems with the replacement set, which Amazon sent out promptly.I was a little surprised that the rod snapped, considering, Bowflex, now owned by Nautilus, guarantees the resistance rods for life. I did, however, notice one other review on Amazon, where a customer had the same problem. This is the same upgrade product that the Bowflex website sells for $99 with more expensive shipping.The easiest way to install these rods is to tip the machine over on its side. If you have placed your unit in a low ceiling area, as I did, you may need to remove the upper cross bar to do this.The new rods seem to provide a little more resistance than the original, but I believe this is just a comparison of used to new.After installing the second set of rods, I placed some constant tension on them for a couple of days. This produced a slight bend to the rods, when not stressed, which was similar to the bend of those already in place on my machine. I don't know if this was necessary or not, but I felt that perhaps it broke them in a little before fully stressing them under normal use.

I ordered these to add aditional weight onto my Pro series Bowflex. They work great, definitely increased the resistance, and are helping with with my goals. The attachment comes connected on the bottom of the rods and slid perfectly into the adaptor on the Bowflex. I know other series adaptors do not match up, so be sure to check and make sure this connector will work. I already added 50 rods to the open holes on the back, so this brings my resistance to 410. The cables are holding up great under the additional strain and I am not seeing anything to suggest that the weight is too much. Definitely worth the money.

After my husband bought the PR 1000 he was disappointed with his leg workouts, just not enough weight. But of course we had purchased the PR 1000, which supposedly can’t be upgraded!Thanks to some comments in the Q&A section, I thought that maybe we should try adding more weight anyway.It was surprisingly easy to add this upgrade to a bowflex that isn’t supposed to be upgradeable. All you have to do is turn the rod caddy backwards and take the caps off of the last two holes!Now, if you want the back screws to go in all the way you will have to drill holes in the plastic. Also, the 5 lb weights are very close to a bracket and would have scraped against it if I had left them “as is” in the pictures I took. I have since put a few washers between the main “mast” of the bowflex and the caddy that holds the rods, so that the 5 lb rods don’t rub against anything any more. But, you could also skip all that and just remove the 5 lb weights altogether.So, in short, I was able to install the 50 lb rods on the PR 1000 without any heavy equipment. My husband is happy with the result!

Easy installation

Adds onto machine and upgrades the weights. Works as you'd expect with more weights, and is easy enough to install. Good upgrade if you have the machine that can get the upgrade!

I bought these to upgrade my Bowflex Xtreme home gym and the difference is amazing... so much more resistance than it had previously and so easy to fit as well.Money well spent.

Jeder der regelmäßig trainiert, stößt schnell an die Gewichtsgrenzen seiner Bowflex Kraftstation. Bei Kraftstationen die mit Scheiben bestückt werden, kauft man also neue Gewichte. Bei den Bowflex Geräten hingegen, muss man mit diesen Ruten arbeiten.Ich habe mich schwer getan, Kaufoptionen zu finden und war sehr glücklich als ich diese Option hier bei Amazon entdeckt habe. Der Versand hat zwar einige Wochen gedauert, aber was zählt ist das Produkt!Die Ruten die man erhält, sind zwei Stück von den "50"ern. Die Installation ist einfach. Man löst die Schraube aus der weißen Unterseite der Rute. Anschließend entfernt man die oberen Zwei Deckel am Gewichtskasten - beispielsweise mit einem Schlitz Schraubenzieher. Dann muss man den Gewichtskasten ausbauen, wozu man drei Schrauben an der Unterseite entfernen muss. Die zwei Ruten steckt man dann in die geöffneten zwei Löcher und befestigt sie anschließend mit den Schrauben, die man am Anfang aus der weißen Unterseite entfernt hat. Abschließend muss man nur den Gewichtskasten wieder am Gerät befestigen.Für mich war das Upgrade ein absolutes Must-have, da man wesentlich vielseitiger mit den neuen Gewichtsoptionen arbeiten kann. Übungen die zuvor anspruchslos waren, da man die Belastung nicht weiter steigern konnte, sind nun wieder fordernd. Quasi genauso, wie ein Training sein soll.Die Stangen die ich bekam, sahen übrigens völlig neuwertig aus.

Installed in minutes - not difficult at all with a power screw driver. Price seems to have doubled so I was fortunate to get it when I did?! Adds the additional resistance you will need for some of the compound movements. To get the best resistance, set the floor pulley's and chest work pulley's to their furthest along the arm as this will give you the greatest resistance. (This info is not included in the manual)?!
