Worked great in my DIY swamp cooler, but makes a big mess when cutting it to size!

the thicker pads of yesteryear performed better.
Works ok, only objection is how much thinner the pads get every year. Price goes up while product volume diminishes, the thicker pads of yesteryear performed better.

The Best Pad for the Coldest Air!
These were shipped quick. These are my favorite cooler pads, keeps my home really cool as long as the temps are not over 95 degrees. They need to be change yearly but, it worth keeping the place 7-10 degrees cooler than the other types of pads. These keep it the coolest! If it were 94 degrees outside and I turned my cooler on around 11:00 A.M. by 6:00 PM, I am still at 74 degrees. Thanks so much for the great product.

Too thin
Too thin ,does not work like my previous pad

Works but doesn't look like the picture at all
It works, but looks nothing like the picture. If you are familiar with swamp cooler pads, you will know that aspen pads look like little noodles of wood loosely packed into netting that get everywhere, but I didn't know that. Would not buy again.

Very absorbant but a little messy. Made of shredded aspen wood I think. Very efficient.

An alternative use for this excelsior!!!
I use excelsior for my hen's nest. It's not as messy as cedar chips (they like to kick those out of the nest), so excelsior makes the PERFECT padding for laying eggs. The thing is, excelsior bought by itself as excelsior is super pricey. But if you buy this product, you get a deal. I will definitely reorder when needed. Perhaps the company would want to repackage it as hen nest material. LOL.

Not good for a budget diy swamp cooler
Too dense for a $20.00 box fan to move air through. I tried using this with a Holmes hbf2010a-wm 20-inch box fan. At 6 inches away there is barely any discernible air flow. I understand that this is not exactly the hardware that the manufacturer intended for this pad to be used with, but I can only rate based on my experience which was not good. Since my rating is so low and I understand that I am using it with a fan that may simply be of a lower air pressure than the manufacturer anticipated, I wanted to make sure I stated what I used it with so that anyone reading this review will be able to use it as a reference when choosing what they use to move air through it.
