Hillsdale Fairfox Swivel Stool with Rectangular Lattice Back, Counter Height, White

Purchased these bar stools in white with canvas-like cushions for my kitchen island and they look great! They are for counter height and the seat is padded comfortably and appropriate size. The bar stools swivel, are sturdy enough for my husband of 190 lbs (but I think they would hold Norm from the "Cheers" tv show). The barstools tuck in nicely under the countertop bar. They come in different finishes and heights. Having priced many bar stools, these were more than worth the price, a good value.

Assembly instructions quite easy - took me about and hour to assemble them both. They're attractive, sturdy, don't wobble and are quite comfy. A very good value and cheaper than other sites for the exact same chair.

These chairs are very nice and appear to be very sturdy. They are also quite comfortable. For the price they can’t be beat. As others have reported, the assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired. Putting these chairs together is actually pretty simple so why the instructions are so deficient is a mind bender. For those who are going to put these together: 1) the first step with the ring with the protruding wooden strips- the protruding side is the side that the cushion is attached to. The flat side is where the swivel attaches to. 2) when attaching the legs to the ring with the swivel, the metal swivel is on the opposite side (“down”) of the side you are attaching the legs. Just remember that the metal gets attached to the flat side of the first ring. 3) rotate the swivel to reveal the holes where the screws go to attach the swivel to the flat side of the first ring. That’s it! Why the instructions couldn’t provide these bits is a mystery. Took me a half an hour of staring at the instructions and the chair to figure this out. Also, consider getting a proper ball end Allen wrench (#4) to aid with setting the Allen screws. The provided wrench is tiny but useful in some of thr tight spaces. Hope this helps. The chairs are beautiful.

I just got one of these chairs put together yesterday. They look very nice with my new oak island. I had had trouble finding oak chairs as so many have a dark cherry finish. As some have mentioned, the chair is easy to put together, but the instructions could be better. I'm a single, 72 year old woman--granted I do have some experience reading instructions and doing things for myself. I got stuck on Step 4 and had to come back to the comment section. Thankfully, a customer had addressed my exact problem in his review. After that, things went perfectly. Chair seems sturdy. We will find out after it's been in use for a bit.

I'm VERY happy with these stools (2). The bad? Assembly was tedious and long and instruction booklet was TERRIBLE!! No text, just abbreviated pics that is missing certain specifics that if you do it wrong when you have a choice, it's a 50/50 chance it WILL be wrong. So then, you have to unassemble and start over (happened to us twice). But, the end result is lovely. Like being in labor - all is "forgotten" once baby is born. They really look professional and we had no damage to any of the parts, which were all there. Have only used them occasionally for two weeks so only time will tell if they will need tightening, as some have remarked. I would definitely order these again. Swivel is xln't, btw. Comfort is fine - two bigger people and seniors - certainly good enough for 2 or so hours of sitting. Wouldn't want to sit all day, however, as cushion isn't that padded and one would start to feel the hard bottom. And for MY kitchen, the color stain used matches my cabinets beautifully.

These stools are beautiful. They were easy to assemble and are very comfortable to sit in. It was important to us that they swivel. I was lucky to buy them on sale which makes them even better value for money. They are solid wood but not too heavy to slide across our floor. I was concerned about the foot plate being scratched so I coated them with satin polyurethane to preserve the paint. You can't even tell that I applied the polyurethane. I plan to reapply it once a year.

For the price, I was impressed by the materials and ease of assembly. However out of the 3 I purchased, only 1 was without issue. One of the barstools came with a crack in the wood, luckily this was on the underside so I decided to assemble it. Another one seemed fine until it came time to bolt the legs to the seat and I realized that there were no threads in one of the 4 holes. There were still 3 of the 4 to secure so I completed it, however it was disappointing to have this experience dampened from the poor quality control. Overall I'm keeping them in my kitchen but I can't say I'd pick these again.
