Instant fix!
I saw my wife about to throw out our KA blender. She said it was not working and there were bits of plastic at the coupler. Our unit is well over a decade old. I checked and indeed the coupler had perished (rubberized plastic).Luckily I looked on Amazon and saw this part was a typical failure and somewhat easy to replace. I ordered this pack - which had five couplers and the removal tool for the same price as many of the two packs.I have photos of the failed part and the new part. Fits well and works as the original. Will update on longevity if needed, but so far save my unit from the recycle bin! (And these units are pretty expensive).Note: as others have mentioned removal and install of the coupler is opposite to normal as the treads are reversed which is typical in rotation devices (so they don’t get loose with use) - such as circular saws and angle grinders too. I used the supplied tool and channel locks to get the old one off.Review as of Dec 2024.

make wrench fit & its great
worked great in the end. My 1999 vintage Kitchen Aid blender has 4 wide posts castings that surround the coupling and the space between them was too small to allow the wider end of the wrench to pass between them to get under the coupling. All my narrow enough, ignition wrenches were too thick to fit under the coupling. So I ground the edges off the provider wrench till it cleared the posts. Lefthand screw on the coupling easily released. KitchenAid should have provided this kit to begin with, Mudder should provide a wrench with openings at both ends.

Thought I had to buy a new KitchenAid blender
One of the "prongs" broke off the coupler on my KitchenAid blender and I thought I had to buy a new blender. Watched a few tutorial videos and realized I could fix it myself (YAY!) These were relatively inexpensive, easy to replace and I still have my favorite blender.

Kitchenaid blender couplers
So far so good. Fit and function seems correct, will have to see how long it lasts

Very easy to install
First - Why does the coupler break in the first place? - one way to break it is by assembling the jug incorrectly after washing it. The rubber gasket has to touch against the glass... if the gasket is placed against the plastic side instead, the drive shaft will be too high for the coupler (it reaches it only with its fingertips) and it will break. The rubber gasket "looks right" in either position, but only the glass side is correct and checking it will keep the coupler alive for a long time! (Ask me how I know...)It is literally a 2 minute job to install a new coupler. You will need a pair of pliers (the Channelock type is perfect for this). The easiest way to remove the old coupler is to just slide the little wrench under the coupler on the blender, then grab the coupler with the pliers and turn it CLOCKWISE (turning right) to unscrew it from the shaft. Note that this is the opposite direction of normal screws! To install - just screw the new coupler on ANTICLOCKWISE (turning left) while holding the shaft with the wrench. Hand tight is enough as this thread is self tightening during use.As far the the product is concerned, the material and workmanship look and feel good - the blender works as new again.

Great replacements
I love my old blender but it likes to eats these parts. Fortunately i found these and a single one has outlasted the original. Very durable and a great value.

Use often.
My KitchenAid blender has this gear on the motor and spins the cutting blade. The gear is hard rubber and eventually it starts to come apart. This set of gears comes with a handy thin socket to remove the old one. I used to pop off the old one with a screw driver but this is better. I just noticed my new nutribullet has a similar set up. I don't know if the gear will fit but I'll soon find out because my wife hammers this thing when making smoothies by using frozen berries and I can see the gear teeth sheering off soon like my blender. Love these things. Keep a set around.
