This is it. The holy grail of SPF. I thought I would never find it!
So, this seems to be the miraculous ideal sunscreen I have been seeking for years: physical block without titanium dioxide, high SPF, no creepy chemicals, isn't greasy or shiny, doesn't break me out, and feels good on my skin. EVERY sunscreen breaks me out or leaves my skin feeling itchy or congested if I leave it on all day!! This one doesn't, and I have been wearing it every day for two weeks straight.Yes, it leaves a white cast which is stronger the more product you use. That is NOT the fault of the sunscreen. It's just the nature of the ingredient zinc oxide, and if you want the calming and sun-blocking benefits you just have to put up with some whiteness. I've gone out in public with the white cast a few times and it's not horrible but it does make me look more fair and gothic than usual, so instead, here's how I deal with it: I work it in fast and don't rub more than necessary. Then when it's set, I buff a bit of Colorescience Pro Sunforgettable SPF 50 Powder on top to even out the white cast. (The Colorescience powder is kind of expensive in its original dispenser but I just bought the refill and swirl it in a glass with a kabuki brush. It comes in different shades, which you can see on their website, and Amazon has reasonable prices on the refills.) The effect is natural looking and leaves no hint of white cast, and provides me with a LOT of sun protection -- 50 SPF layered on top of 30 SPF! And all that while not irritating my skin or giving me acne? I consider it a miracle.Another sunscreen hack I've been doing that is working well for me is to add a small squirt of moisturizer and mix in my fingers just before applying, which helps it slip a bit better and have a little bit of moisturizing factor -- I've been using a squirt of Hyalogic Episilk PHA hyaluronic acid serum but I bet you could use any moisturizer you like -- and then I do the powder step.Anyway, if, like me, you have tried everything and thought that you would never find a sunscreen with natural ingredients that felt good on your skin and didn't make you look greasy and ridiculous, give this one a try.

Peeling Flakey Mess; Back to the Drawing Board!
I'm very upset and disappointed about with this product! I originally purchased this product because it received a rating of 1 (The best rating possible) from the Environmental Working Group. The first time I purchased the product I was so happy with it! The texture was smooth, and it didn't leave my skin overly white, as so many physical sunscreens do. I told all my friends and family that I had finally found a great healthy sunscreen that worked well under makeup, and I encouraged them to buy this product too.I was happy with my second bottle as well, but on the third bottle, I received an entirely different sunscreen product from DERMA-E. I didn't notice that it was a different type of sunscreen until I had been using it for about a week, and at that point I didn't feel that I could return it. I also desperately needed it; I use it daily to protect my skin from the harsh California sun. With the arrival of this last bottle, I'm just disgusted. This time, I did receive the correct item, but the sunblock functions completely differently. As I try to apply it to my face, it peels right off, in little sticky, flaky bits. I've tried everything: exfoliating my face first, letting the sunblock sit, trying to apply it with a little water, applying it super fast; nothing works! It is a complete waste of money because I can't trust that any is even getting on my face, and it's completely impossible to wear under makeup. So now I'm back to the drawing board. I currently have no sunblock to use, and I need to research a new brand of physical sunscreen. I'm also stuck with an almost completely full bottle that I have no interest in using. I am guessing I received a defective product, but after two bad experiences, I'm not willing to take the risk of wasting anymore money on this product. On to the next!

Natural SPF Standoff! Derma E loses!
The media could not be loaded. I am a 33 year old female, with adult acne prone skin. I compared two of the leading natural facial SPFs. Juice Beauty SPF 30 and Derma E SPF 30. Both are 2 oz containers using zinc as the only sun screen, both are oil free. As of the time of this review derma e Antioxidant Natural Sunscreen SPF 30 Oil-Free Face Lotion with Vitamin C and Green Tea 2 oz is available on Amazon as an add on for $8.83, while the Juice Beauty SPF is $29. So there is a significant difference in price.I wore the Derma E on the left side of my face and the Juice Beauty on the right side of my face for several weeks in order to get a good comparison. Derma E feels lighter, but does not blend as well, leaving product build up and pilling on the skin. It also caused me to break out. On the Juice Beauty side, it feels heavy, but actually blends better! No build up or pilling, but does have a strong smell. No breakouts on the Juice Beauty side.In conclusion, Juice Beauty was a clear winner for me. I still gave Derma E 3 stars though because it is not terrible, and if your skin is not acne prone, it may work well for you. Also, if you are sensitive to smells, you may find that the Derma E is better than the Juice Beauty. However, if zinc sunscreens don't agree with you, and you're ok with something that uses chemical sunscreen, I do recommend Murad Anti Aging Moisturizer Spf30 Pa+++ For Blemish-Prone Skin 50ml/1.7oz.
