worth the time
I started this book as an audiobook… right at the climax the library loan came due. I mean RIGHT then. One minute driving along listening and then suddenly, in the middle of the ‘ah ha’ moment…gone. I jumped in and read the ebook later that night. Couldn’t wait. It was the longest audiobook I’ve listened to so far. 13+ hours so be prepared to set some time aside for this one. At first, it felt like it was going to be slow. I was r sure if picked the right one. Then, I really grew to love the characters. Their intricate backstories and the secrets they kept made things interesting. The plot was so twisted and evil, but strong women prevailed. I would definitely recommend reading or listening to this book.

Surviving Day by Day
This book gets under your skin immediately and is hard to put down. Lots of intrigue, danger and fills as the story lines of the three survivors shows us more of their lives before and after the vicious attacks. After the accused rapist is killed , the victims and their families are under scrutiny by the law, and the press. Very good book.

Gardner never disappoints!
While it starts slow, Lisa Gardner's novel, the Survivor's Club soon picks up enough steam to keep the reader on the edge of their seat, wondering who might have done it.Eddie Como is about to be put on trial for the rape of three women and the death of another. He's shot in the head by a sniper on his way to the courthouse. We are then taken into the world of the Survivor's Club, a club made up of the three women who were slated to testify against Eddie Como. At first glance it would appear that Eddie is guilty as sin, and someone with a grudge against him, yet leave it to Gardner to not only keep us guessing but to show us a criminal mastermind as frighteningly civilized as Hannibal Lector.Gardner introduces Detective Sergeant Roan Griffin, a man who survived something so horrible, it's only referred to as the Big Boom, an event that had him off the job for a year in order to recover and now he's back on the job dealing with his old life in what he hopes is a `new and improved' way of reacting. Throughout the book, Griffin struggles to keep his legendary temper in check. If he loses control again, he'll lose more than his job, women and children could die this time. The three women of the Survivor's Club, formed to help them deal with the aftermath of being raped and assaulted by the same man, meet once a month in order to teach each other not to be victims ever again. When their rapist is shot on his way to the courthouse, all three become suspects.Of course Gardner is not going to make her plot so easy to untangle and once more she surprised me, after taking me on a fantastic journey of suspense.Reading is my addiction, and Lisa Gardner is my drug of choice.

Goo read!
I am a big Lisa Gardner fan, and, I have to say, this is one of my favorites! She did a great job of developing more characters than is usual, and bringing them all together to develop the unusual story. Intriguing and frightening plot! You won’t want to put it down.

A great crime novel, both for the writing and the plot
This was my first Lisa Gardner book (I am reading a second one as I am writing this). I had heard of her and was keen to read what she wrote. I wasn't disappointed. The first thing that struck me as I started reading is that Gardner knows how to write. By that I means that, unlike a lot of crime readers I like for their plots and stories more than for their mastery of writing, Gardner uses a variety of techniques to tell her stories. She shifts viewpoints, she uses metaphors, she alternates between deeply psychological and hard facts... I bet she has studied writing, and she has done that well. As a consequence, the writing is very good. Not only are you reading a great story, but you can also enjoy the writing. Doesn't always happen these days. Five stars to start with. Now, as for the plot, it is excellent too. Three women who have survived being attacked by a rapist form a club, the survivors' club, and they meet regularly. They are far from having recovered, but when their rapist, Eddie Como is arrested and trialled they are ecstatic. His savage murder before the trial will change everything. Was he really the rapist? Who's killed him and why? Is one the club's women behind the assassination? All of a sudden, another woman is attacked and killed. Lots of twists, questions, dark areas and psychological issues in this novel. Well paced, cleverly written, interesting characters, I recommend this book for what it is,an excellent crime novel.

fun thriller, also violent and creepy
This is the second book I've read by Lisa Gardner and both have been very good. This is the story of three women who've survived brutal attacks/rapes by a man about to go to trial, but after a disturbing prologue about two men planning crimes, the action begins with the arrival of the prisoner at the courthouse and his subsequent murder. The detective on the case is Roan Griffin, a man just back from medical leave after he hurt two officers in attempting to attack a murder suspect. His wife recently dead and his career damaged, Griffin is a tormented and complicated man that you can root for as he gets to know the three women survivors-turned-suspects.The puzzle is worthwhile and believable and the characters are interesting. This is a good story, though I had some trouble getting started, partly because of the brutality and disturbing nature of the rapes; once we got down to detection and character development, the book moved better for me, and came to a satisfying conclusion.I look forward to reading others by this author.

Worth reading if you're a Gardner fan.
A good read but not the best book by Lisa Gardner. A couple of her other books kept me more engrossed. Although there were some twists in this book that is a great talent of this author.
