I had previously had a gravel vac and thought that was good but when that broke I chose this one, even though it does the same job this one is so much better. Easy to assemble, easy to use, easy to clean. Perfect size, it's a lot longer then I thought it would be. The item is sturdy and feels like it will last a long time. It also performs much better then the last one ever did. Would definitely recommend!

This syphon does everything it promises - and more! Very easy to set up and use, and extremely efficient. Only criticism is that there is nothing in the instructions to tell you what the plastic box attachment is for, but realised by looking at the photos on Amazon that it is for cleaning gravel. It does this amazingly well, sucking up all the dirt without blocking the tube by sucking up stones at the same time. Very happy with this purchase - and so are our fish!

I have an heavily planted 60litres tank with over 20 small fish and sand ground. I used a simple hose and was quite skeptical about needing anything else but this actually works a treat and have been using it for the last couple of months.I got rid of most the bits it comes with as I found them awkward or not practical. Only one pump gets things going. I have much less spillage of water as the pump component fits nicely inside the bucket and provides a bit of weight so it doesn't come out and no spillage compared to a simple hose that moves around.Suction power depends on high difference between fish tank and bucket and the actual size of the tube is good enough to provide good suction but to prevent small creatures to be sucked out too easily (I found the filter tip a bit useless for this purpose).Good product overall.

Does the job. Hose had a kinked due to its packaging but easily remedied with some hot water. Good product

Cleaning the fish tanks is a real chore. We have a 60l and a 30l, and need to do a partial water change every week or two weeks. Recently I've been finding myself putting it off more and more because it's such a chore with the old "jiggle-up-and-down-to-start" siphon.Then, a few weeks ago, the ball in the old siphon started sticking 'open', so the vaccuum didn't form when jiggling, so I decided to replace it. I tried a squeezy siphon when we got the tanks many years ago, but it was rubbish. However, this one seemed to get good reviews, so I paid a little more and got it.Assembling it was nice and easy. Didn't need to read the instructions. The length of tubing is far too long for what I need it for, but if your tank is on a shelf and the bucket is on the floor, it's perfect.Getting the suction started is simplicity itself. A couple of squeezes and it's started. Brilliant. The speed is a lot higher than the last one too, cutting the time to change the water in half. So much less mess too, the jiggly siphon splashed everywhere, and I was always afraid of braining one of the more curious fish.For the price, it's a time saver and I can't complain at all.

The best water change hose. Can add the protective plastic bit from the intake to the outflow to spread the water evenly instead in one strong jet. Sturdy hose not afraid of it getting bent over while changing water. The suction cups are useful to hold it in the bucket while the water is flowing in.Worth the money!!!

Sorry - this didn’t work at all - waste of money. Either the one I have was faulty or the design is poor. Impossible to get a suction loop going - and (even if you do) I realise it will take two people to clean the tank - one to work the suction pump and the other to sift the silt from the pebbles. Beyond disappointing

This is the third of this type of kit I have bought. The previous two had a flexible plastic tube. This one has a hard plastic tube which is very difficult to fit over the different sections when assembling it for the first time.There was also one connector missing. It makes controlling the tubing more difficult as it wants to fold back to how it was in the packet!! Saying all that - once in use it works very well. It is quick to start, quick flow, and with the end to filter the stones fitted again very good results.My personal choice would be to look for the more flexible hose next time just because its easier to handle - although this one might last longer with the hard tubing. Time will tell!
