Nice hardback book, slightly smaller in size, and I like that. I just now got the book today so I haven't read it from cover to cover just yet, but I have been able to sift through and read random excerpts. From what I've read so far, it seems like some very entertaining reading, with a lot of information about acceptable social manners at the time. I'm looking forward to reading more, and also to bringing it along to my vintage tea party with my girlfriends. I think it looks like it'll make for some fun conversation for us!

I DEVOURED this book in a single sitting as I found myself unable to put it down! To say that what lay upon each page is a wealth of information would be an understatement. I HIGHLY recommend this book not only to those wishing to learn of proper manners from a noble era gone by... but, this book should be placed before all youngsters still in school as it will give them a foundation in proper manners that will long serve them in their lives. This book is beautifully bound, of perfect size, brillianly written with ease of reading, and is illustrated with stunning engravings (drawings of the era).Well done!Chas. I bought the book for research into my own current work (Gilded Age historical novel) but I'm reading it for pleasure. Beautifully written, exquisitely researched, a delight from beginning to end.

Love this book! You can tell it's well made, the books actual cover is the same as the paper jacket. You don't see that in a lot of hard cover books. The information inside is easy to read and fun.

This is a fascinating little look at Victorian manners and mores, with some truly surprising things that most modern people wouldn't expect! Tons of advice that still applies, and lovely illustrations.

I bought this book as a gift for a friend that love the Victorian era. She loved it.

What a beautiful book filled with traditional wisdom on togetherness. Such a refreshing read in this world obsessed with self gratification. Mrs. Sarah Chrisman is a wonderful lady who together with her husband Gabriel live in a late Victorian bubble, the clothes, lifestyle and furniture and she has quite the gift of writing. I have all of her books, including this one, you should give them a read. Sublime slice of classic marriage teachings, I hope to fulfil them as a wife one day :)
