There is nothing in this to kill grass (don't believe). This product was very effective in greening up our lawn due to the IRON and nutrients.

This stuff burned the heck out of a big part of my grass. Where it didn’t burn it looks great though.

Disappointing results!
While we had great success using Scotts Step 1 and Step 2 products on our lawn this year, we had disastrous results with Step 3. Even though it was carefully applied as recommended, it killed much of our good grass. We would definitely not use it again or recommend it to someone else.
