We are playing Xbox1 through monitor with no inbuilt sound and headphones don't work. Will these speakers work if plugged direct into the Xbox please?

Hi. For you to be able to use xbox with sound on a PC monitor without speakers, you need a monitor that will have HDMI input (from xbox) this hdmi carries sound as well. For you to be able to hear it, your monitor MUST have a audio jack OUTPUT as well. Then you plug any speaker to it. You will need a male to male audio jack cable as I assume the speaker will have a female port and the monitor too. I tried this and that is the only way. We use it this way having on monitor and a PC and xbox connected to it.

When the speaker is on but the computer that nothing is playing, is it completely quiet?

Hi Jordan, When I read your question my first response was, "Yes, the speaker is completely quiet." Then I thought about it and ran a short test. I plugged in my speaker while I typed my answer to your question. I work in a quiet room with no background noise except for an occasional passing car or van. In such conditions, because I'm listening to the speaker, there is the constant low hiss of static. Within a normal working environment you would not notice the static because it would be part of the background. So my answer to your question is, "No, when the computer is not playing anything, the speaker emits a low hiss of static." I hope that helps.
