Avoderm Natural Weight Support Dry Dog Food 28 Pound (Pack of 1)

I literally have a English Bulldog like the cover of this food and he had issues

This was the second bag of AvoDerm that I bought for my pup, McGee. He did well with the first bag, so I expected no issues with the second. The bag arrived on 13 Sep and about a week later, McGee started to turn away from his food , eat grass & vomit. It wasn't every day, but two or three a week. After the second week, we went to the Vet. The Vet initially diagnosed him with Bilious Vomiting Syndrome (meaning his stomach was empty for too long & he vomits bile). I was to feed him small amounts three a day, along with 5mg of Prevacid once or twice a day. He'd do better for a few days, but then vomit all over again. He still didn't want his food & to combat it, I roasted a whole pumpkin & pureed it for him. I was putting 1/2 teaspoon into each feeding to get him more interested. It was still a fight to get him to eat. My poor little guy was miserable at meal time & didn't want to be near me when I had his food. We went back to the Vet on 31 Oct or 7 Nov because he was still vomiting. His blood work & tests were perfect & there was nothing to suggest any other issues. I broke out his meals to four to five a day. Skip to this past Friday night (13 Nov). I had also been having major sinus / allergy issues since early September. I noticed that night, though, that my sense of smell was coming back...and I wasn't liking the smell coming out of my hallway closet. I rarely pre-pour his dry food into the bowl, but I had had a busy day & did it just to remind myself to feed him one last time. As i opened the airtight container where I kept his food, I noticed a HORRIBLE smell coming out. As I looked into his food bowl, I saw BUGS. Both mature bugs & what looked to be larva. I almost dropped the bowl. It was at that moment that I realized that this was EXACTLY WHY he wasn't eating for weeks. The bag was rancid!!! Again...my poor little guy!!!! I ran to a pet store & was recommended a good food, which he attacked as soon as I put it down for him. We went to the Vet the following day & they confirmed the fat in the food was bad AND that the bugs & larva were from the food. Needless to say, Amazon was wonderful in refunding my money - but the problem is really the processing place for AvoDerm. I emailed them (phones are closed on weekends), but as of right now (3:00pm on 16 Nov) no response. Will keep you updated, but I want them to pay my approx $200 in Vet bills and the meds if the parasite test comes back positive. I'll never buy another one of their products.

I have been buying this food for my English bulldog for years and have been happy. Today however this 50 pound bag was left on my road down by mail boxes. It could have been taken by anyone. I live in the country on a dirt road. The house is far away from the mailboxes. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it sitting in the road! This dog food is not cheap. There was no reason to do that. I had to struggle to get it into my car and drive it up hurting my back in the process. I am furious.

I have been feeding Avoderm dog foods for over 30 years now. My dogs all love them and they keep them super healthy. Their coats are super luxurious Thanks to the extra oils in this food. People ask me all the time what supplements they're on because they look so good. It's just this food. I have tried other foods throughout the years and I always end up going back to Avoderm.

My 2 dogs, 1, a 50 lb Basset Hound and 2, an 8 lb Yorkie mix, both love this food. This is a highly rated nutritionally sound food if you do some research on the highest quality dog foods. I would much rather give my pets a high quality food than pay vet bills from illnesses caused by food with fillers. One particularly nice side effect of this food is it does not seem to make my dogs gassy at all, so that is particularly pleasant. My pets get fed twice a day and they are both regular as clock work as to their bathroom needs which is particularly nice in a busy family. We order the big bag of food and it gets delivered right to the door and there is no lugging the heavy bag in and out of shopping carts, car, house. I can't say enough good things about this product!

Dogs like it, even my cats eat it sometimes even thought they have their own food. I have a dog who needs a low fat food and I like that this one has healthy ingredients. My small chihuahua with missing teeth can eat this food with no problems. Overall I think this is a good food for dogs who need a lower fat dog food but it is expensive for the amount you get.

My old dog came down with pancreatitis and we weren't sure if she would make it. Her skin was blackening and fur seemed very thin. I thought some of it was due to old age but for the pancreatitis she was put on a special vet diet which was expensive. I did some searches for good dog foods for pancreatitis and ran across avoderm. My dog has been on this now for about 8 months. She likes it, she's had no repeats of pancreatitis, the blackening of the skin went away and her coat is like she's young again. I know part of it is having the low fat diet helped her digestion but she's just responded so well to this food and the fact that I see such a huge difference in her coat makes this a bi-weekly order for us.
