Timeless
Even though this movie was made several years ago I watched it a few times recently and it's pretty relevant with all the new AI and robotic technology. Will Smith has a hard time dealing with personal robots in the future and is sure they are more evil than good. It's action packed but also makes you laugh at the same time. Great movie and like I said probably more relevant today than what we thought a few years ago. Great movie, period!

Fun, fast, and entertaining...
Okay donuts are donuts and bagels are bagels, even though they both have holes in them they are not the same. You can’t pass this off as a masterpiece and there are certainly social statements surrounding stereotyping and racism, which is common in Will Smith movies, which may or may not be to your liking. Personally I don’t mind them, though they could be softened a bit.Regardless of your personal inflection on key social issues, you are going to find it’s a relatively fast paced sci-fi movie with predictable chase scenes. There are some twists and turns which keeps you guessing, but they too are rather predictable.Overall the cast is great, with Bridget Moynahan performing very well. Admittedly I’ve not seen her acting much outside of this movie but her emotional range is both impressive and her performance convincing. Alan Tudyk is a very good voice actor and he’s done a convincing job here. If there’s opportunity I think it lies in the second tier of the support with Chi McBride’s performance feeling a bit pressed. And then there’s Will Smith himself. At times he shines, but in all due candor there’s just too much showing his physical condition. The shower scene brings no value and does not belong here nor does it bring value. Lastly, this is based loosely on a Asimov’s writing, I get that, but those are short stories made into a feature length movie and there are inevitably comparisons. The affection for nostalgia respective of shoes, CD players, etc., is funny once or twice but wears thin. It feels like a solid interpretation, and I would say it all gels on the end product.Overall this is a fun movie, full of ups and downs, emotionally and socially grounded. I now watch it once a year and consider it one of Will Smiths’s better outings. It’s just enough CG as to not overwhelm the movie and has a well put together and complimentary cast. If you’re hesitating, pull the trigger, grab some corn, and be thoroughly entertained.

Good Writing is Always in Style
I continuously lament how bad most of the stuff coming out of Hollywood is, and most of it is due to poorly written dialog and stories. I, Robot came from a famed, classic sci-fi writer of yesteryear (Isaac Asimov) and, as a result, could be adapted into a fantastic movie. The casting, the movie's angles and the special effects enhanced an already brilliant story. It's funny to think just how old this movie is now (almost 20), and it still completely captured my imagination and attention. It will always be a classic... even in another 20 years.

This is our future in 3030
Another movie where Will Smith performs a 10 out of 10:) The villain turned out not to be the billionaire i thought it was! I hope that human kind learns that self driving cars, automation, computers that are already thinking artificially can be a big responsibility! From sky net and the list is very long our future will be automated vastly from a police force made up of robots to a work force and that will produce a bill of rights for robots. With all advancements, robotics will be the factor that will challenge ourselves with who is in charge of who, and im pretty sure that humans need air to breath and robots dont! Self driving fully automated cars will be a reality in 2030 or sooner and gas engines will be a thing in museums in 2030 as well. Today more than half of new vehicles are electric and that includes motorcycles and full home automation. I hope human kind has a fail safe button! Score 6 stars!

If robots had a conscience would they realize they'r enslaved & revolt?
I Robot is a sci-film film featuring Will Smith as Detective Del Spooner. It takes place in the future where robots do all the manual labor for humans. A new robot is created called Sonny who has a conscience. He raises the question of whether the robots are slaves and if so should they rebel against their human masters? The movie therefore deals with the oppressed, i.e. the robots who were created solely to serve and what would happen if they finally started thinking about their situation. There’s plenty of action as well.Pretty good movie overall and makes people think if they take the time to think about the story.C

Fun and thought-provoking action/drama film
I'm not sure why this movie did not get better reviews (or was not more of a commercial success), because I found it fun and entertaining (and even somewhat touching at times)...Will Smith is great, as ever, playing a street-wise cop in futuristic Chicago; his dislike of robots is obviously the crux of the story, esp. when a robotics genius he knows personally commits suicide (apparently) and Smith's Detective Spooner smells something rotten in the whole affair. His quest to find the truth forms the plotline of the story, with an overriding question about whether or not robots are (or really ever can be) safe. The special effects were pretty darn good, even though this movie came out several years ago (it is 2016 as I write this) and I think the acting is perfectly good (this is not Shakespeare with robots; it is, however, a fairly cerebral action/drama). This movie is like a soft-core version of The Terminator; same message, different delivery. Well worth a rental, though I actually purchased it.

One of the Best Sci Fi Movies Ever Conceived
The technology was spot on, except for the phone devices. What they showed already exists in 2021. By 2035, phone tech will be greatly advanced over those rather largish earpieces. I love science fiction and this movie makes you dream, just like Sonny. It considers what is entirely possible given our tech obsessions. At the same time, what will destroy us is not technology run wild, but rather our own planet. I digress, but this is an excellent film. It's is very well cast and expertly acted and directed. I have seen it 3 times now, but enjoyed it the most this last time.

Set in possible future for mankind increasing reliance hinges on machines that develops robots and androids, but these specified types are bound by 3 laws. Detective spooner investigates the murder of dr alfred who worked at robotics. With help of robotpysychologist he strives to conclude if the android has voilated any law, turns out there more going than meets the eye while spooner persistance in finding truth, with a twist, more like who dunnit logical thinking, story is gripping ,captivating throughout not dwells among the marvals, some good action battle scenes. Effects are okay.

Slick, enjoyable view of the dystopian future with intelligent computing
* Basic plot introductionThis film borrows the books from Issac Asimov to show a future time when AI is commonplace, with intelligent robots being everyday occurrence in the home and streets. On the eve of the release of a next-generation robot, the previous generations are being recalled. A policeman is asked to investigate the unexpected death of the robot's chief designer. Suddenly the policeman becomes a target for attacks by these new robots, which he cannot prove occurred. What happens next? The film has really good special effects and a strong storyline with solid actors. The famous three laws of robotics steer the storyline well and logically extended and I am sure it uplifted from an original' I Robot' book. The storyline is helpful and I have seen it several times, but I now realise where the storyline is going for the first time, so either it's previously well hidden or I am not following this all that well?

Food for thought...
I Robot, set in a possible future for mankind as our ever increasing reliance on machines develops into robots and droids. Unlike most artifical intelligence films, these robots are bound by 3 simple laws that should keep mankind in complete control. Unfortunately things go south when their creator dies and a pre-programmed holorecording calls Will Smith's Character whom is a detective, onto the scene. The film has an extremely good story, and despite trying to tell a very good story from the onset of the film, it takes the time to cover the back stories for each character as the film progresses, to not only keep the audience interested but to also give the film a strong mystery feel to it despite it's obvious Sci-fi genre. The film's story comes together towards the end giving the answers to all the questions that the film starts to raise. ultimately it does give the viewer something to thing about at the end regarding the future...

Not at all bad...
I've read a fair amount of SF down the years, but practically no Asimov, for some reason. I thought, then, that I'd be making a review uninfluenced by any considerations of how close the film was (or was not) to the book. Then the closing credits started with "Suggested by the book". Ah. So nothing really to do with the book then, not even "Based on", which is usually a bad enough sign. A quick skim of the more popular reviews here show that, sure enough, the film has very little to do with the book, barring the Three Laws.Actually, it's still not at all bad. First, let me dispose of the two reasons why I'm not giving this 5*. Number one, Will Smith: it's not that I don't like him, but here he is playing the running, jumping, wise-cracking cop that he played in Men In Black. It's Agent J all over again, the only real difference being that he's in an SF drama instead of an SF comedy. He does it just fine, but there's still an element of "seen it all before" about the performance. Reason number 2 is that Hollywood once again lets SFX get in the way of the story. The main example is the ending. Someone went "Ooo! We can do this really cool climactic fight scene!!" The trouble is, for me, it jars against what was happening with the same participants earlier in the film. It spoils nothing if I tell you that the heroes inevitably win, but the truth is, they ought to have been dead in about 10 seconds. It left me going "Oh dear", rather than "Wow!"Which is a shame, because the story, even if it has little to do with the book, is actually rather good, and well-handled, too. I'm not going to go into details - I wouldn't want to spoil things for you - but it builds nicely. Within the context of the setting, it's wholly plausible, each "reveal" of the next part of the plot, flashbacks included, feels natural, rather than forced or deus ex machina. The supporting cast do their jobs well, the SFX are classy, the score adds to the ambience as a good score should. It's shame the ending got a bit silly, and that Will Smith couldn't be a bit less J, but I liked it. And like it, as opposed to love it, is the official Amazon description of 4*, as opposed to 5.It's a decent film. It won't be years before I pull it off the shelf again, for sure!

Fun film, great 3D
Well, I'm still very new to this 3D-TV lark, but I find that watching 3D on the television is far better than seeing it in the cinema, for some reason. The thing that really impressed me about I, Robot is that the 3D is unobtrusive once your eyes have settled down, as it were. I don't believe that this filmed was actually filmed in 3D, which means there aren't all those trite "in your face" moments that can make 3D so cringeworthy. Instead, the depth of field generated by the 3D simply adds to the overall high definition clarity and makes it feel like you are looking at reality rather than a trick of the light. The cityscape at night is quite breathtaking, as is one of the final scenes where the robots are looking up at the figure on the hill. The film loses a star for the dreadfully overt product placement, which marrs the film far more than any hokey "let's poke things into the audience" 3D stuff.
