And as much as I hated the smell of smoke and hated the taste
Aloha!😎 I had been an off/on smoker since high school and was at about 1&1/2 sometimes 2 packs a day. I’ve quit several times using the patches, gum, and “1st runner up”, a 12 week course of Wellbutrin pill, but I always went back to smoking. And as much as I hated the smell of smoke and hated the taste, my lungs felt that craving to be filled with that nasty, poisonous vapor that cigarette can provide. That morning smoke is especially comforting with that morning coffee, and again on mid morning break, then after lunch...ahhhh...and of course gotta grab a quick ciggie at 2nd break after lunch....finally time to punch out the time clock cuz time to go home....I’m outta here...gotta light a cig for the ride home! If a long ride, make it two!And it’s just goes on and on. Well you know the routine. BUT NOW you’ve got these Cd’s by Allen Carr. When you listen the 1st few times you might think it’s a waste of time especially as it seems boring as he strays from topic or suddenly talks too soft to hear and comes back talking about something different....Kinda crazy actually but guess what...after a few weeks it suddenly works!!!Out of the blue..my craving dramatically ceased and in a couple days I just felt like I simply didn’t want to smoke anymore...at all! IT WORKS!!!! IT REALLY REALLY WORKS!!! I’ve been quit SOLID for about 8 years since I listened to this CD....i never bought cigs again. I don’t miss it either. IM GUNNA GET ANOTHER FOR MY DAUGHTER. Bless you people. Just get this and give it a chance! It is weird but something in what he say on the cd makes quit and never turn back! But you also really have the “desire” to quit and you must play the cd every chance you can everyday you can....several times a day...even if it’s just background. I mostly listen in my CD player in my cars. You can do it!🍀GOOD LUCK!🍀

Works for me :-)
I read this book at the end of November 2013 and have not looked back since. I am now going into my 9th week as a non smoker and have not missed them at all. I also know that I will never be returning to them again. What I like mostly about this book and the way it is written is that I dont have to dislike smokers and become a hypocript in the meantime for me to enjoy being a non smoker. I can sit and stand around with smokers and still enjoy their company but with no envy.I would recommend this book highly to anyone who wants to give up because Allen Carr has broken down all the barriers in such a simplistic way that when the times comes there is no fear behind you.Go for it what have you got to lose? Nothing but alot to gain :-)

Carr's excellent method makes you REALLY understand what "being a smoker" is and how to "stop being a smoker". Brilliant.
The Carr "method" is sort of not a method at all, not as we know it. Carr believes that what you need to do is put smoking in its place. You don't need "help" or "support", you don't need "willpower". The idea is that smoking just isn't that important. If you want to be a non-smoker, just... don't smoke! How can it be that easy? It just is - but that's the 'method'. He tries to make you see that 'being a smoker' isn't some big powerful addiction, harder than heroin. It's not. Carr spends a huge amount of time just trying to show you that it's actually something quite mundane, something quite dull. You have to accept that all you're doing is sticking dried leaves into your mouth, setting them on fire and then sucking in the smoke. So, in order to be a non-smoker, all you have to do is stop sticking dried leaves into your mouth, setting them on fire and sucking in the smoke. That's the method: Realising how trivial "smoking" actually is. Once you realise that, you'll see that there's NO real addiction. There's just your years or decades of expectation - of society telling you how hard it is to stop. Seeing adverts that say "yes, it's sometimes possible to quit with willpower alone, but you're better off substituting the smoking addiction with a gum addiction". That's built into us all. That's why we "plan" when to stop, we set a date, we maybe even take time off work; we say "it's not the best time, I'm quite stressed right now". Carr shows you that all of this is just nonsense. You're just sticking dried leaves into your mouth, setting them on fire and then sucking in the smoke.Once you realise how small it is, you'll realise that the 'withdrawal' from smoking is just like a bit of a bad cold for some people some of the time. Me, I got moody for a few days. But, so? So I got moody for a few days! What's the problem with that? I went from 60-100 a day to zero. And I got a bit moody. So what?"Don't go near smokers or down the pub for a while after you stop!" everyone always says. But if you understand the Carr method, you'll see that yes you CAN go down the pub with smokers, on the day you stop smoking! Why? Because all you're doing is NOT sticking dried leaves into your mouth, setting them on fire and then sucking in the smoke. You can do that any time! Do it right now.Try it - right now, try not sticking dried leaves in your mouth, try not setting them on fire, and try not to breathe in the smoke.See how easy it is? That's the method. That's why I've never wanted a single cigarette in the 10 years since I stopped. I've been clubbing, drinking, held cigarettes for friends. I just don't want to know. I understand what "smoking" is.The whole purpose of Carr's books is to almost reprogram your brain, so you truly understand what "smoking" is and what "non smoking" is. That's all. That's why he says "don't stop smoking til you've read the book". You need to make sure you really understand what he is trying to show you before you go for it. By the time you decide to go for it, you'll understand that "stopping smoking" is really, truly, honestly, NO BIG DEAL.All you need to take away from this book is that there's no real 'nicotine addiction', not the way you're led to believe. Sure, your body does need it and it'll undergo some changes when you stop. But it's so minimal, you pretty much won't feel it. What you'll feel is a lifetime of expectation and programming - that's why you want to scream at people. Your brain has a 'smoking monster' inside it. It is a little, spoilt brat. It will make you feel so angry just to make you want a cigarette. But Carr also explains about that: Fight the monster. Tell it "go away, I don't need you". When you start feeling moody, laugh at it! "Oh wow, smoking monster, you're really childish, you're trying to make me angry enough to smoke! That's a bit pathetic, don't you think?"The smoking monster can be defeated easily. The most important way is to remember that it's just a childish monster inside your head. It wants you to smoke. It's going to try to manipulate you and make you feel angry so you SMOKE. But you've read the book, and you know that you can defeat that stupid pathetic monster.Once you've read the book you really do have everything you need to stop smoking whenever you want. You'll understand that you don't need "willpower" or "patches", you don't have to wait until your life is a bit more settled and less stressed, you don't need a plan. You just need to understand both how small and how silly "being a smoker" is, how small it is to "stop being a smoker", and how fantastic you'll feel when you've defeated the smoking monster who sits in your head banging his feet on the floor demanding that you stick some more dried leaves in your mouth, set them on fire and suck the smoke in.Being a smoker: Sticking dried leaves into your mouth, setting them on fire, and sucking in the smokeBeing a non-smoker: Not sticking dried leaves into your mouth, setting them on fire and sucking in the smoke.
