Vash the Stampede is a wanted man with a habit of turning entire towns into rubble. The price on his head is a fortune, and his path of destruction reaches across the arid wastelands of a desert planet. Unfortunately, most encounters with the spiky-haired gunslinger don't end well for the bounty hunters who catch up with him; someone almost always gets hurt - and it's never Vash. Oddly enough, for such an infamous fugitive, there's no proof that he's ever taken a life. In fact, he's a pacifist with a doughnut obsession who's more doofus than desperado. There's a whole lot more to him than his reputation lets on - Vash the Stampede definitely ain't your typical outlaw. Review: Hysterical and action-packed...a great anime series! - He's prone to whining, crying and throwing tantrums, but Vash still manages to get the job done! Since I was introduced to Cowboy Bebop a little over a year ago, I've seen many different Anime, and I have to say flat out that Trigun is my favorite. Ironic, considering that Vash the Stampede is the epitome of everything I couldn't stand about Anime before I became a fan, but I actually find Vash to be completely hysterical, and one my favorite anime characters. Its Wild West meets futuristic Sci-Fi in this anime about a man with names like 'The Humanoid Typhoon' and 'The 60 Billion Double Dollar Man'. Beleived to be the cause of mass destruction wherever he goes, Vash is actually a misunderstood, friendly and peace-loving individual...who is armed to the teeth, with superhuman strength and speed, the sharpest eye on the planet, and a 60 Billion Double Dollar bounty on his head that many are just itching to get their hands on. He hates violence and won't bring himself to kill anyone...and he has his reasons. The overall plot of the show is great, but only loosely follows the Manga, since the anime is very different towards the end. Every episode is a continuation in the overall story. The first few episodes are mostly comical, but as the series progresses, Vash's true enemies reveal themselves and the show begins taking a darker tone. Many revelations about Vash's mysterious origins are revealed, and at about the middle of the show there is an origin episode that explains it a bit moe. That said, this anime is both completely hysterical and filled with great action. Vash's ridiculous behavior, stupid facial expressions and whining and screaming add a whole dimension to the character. Half the time when I watched this show, I was laughing. Sometimes it was so funny I was doubled over and tearing from the comedy aspect. Side characters Meryl and Millie are also good characters...Millie's rather stupid but resourceful personality make her one of the funniest characters on the show (and one of my favorites). A gun-toting priest priest known as Nicholas D. Wolfwood shows up, inadvertantly forming a friendship and partnership with Vash, which leads to more hysterical situations. When the main cast of villains begin to get introduced to the show, it really takes off. Some of these villains, namely Legato Bluesummers (one of my all time favorite anime characters), are among the most sinister and evil characters I've seen yet in Anime. Trigun happens to be my favorite Anime. The overall series has its fair share of comedy, alot of action, but also alot of emotion, particularly towards the end of the show. Combined with great character development, excellent animation, and a very good soundtrack, Trigun stands as one of the best anime to come out in recent years. As the second anime I got into after Bebop, I found it to be very entertaining and easy to get into. While the manga differs a bit from the anime, Trigun is definitely a great show and is worth the watch for any anime fan. Chances are that if you liked Bebop, you'll like Trigun. Review: A true anime classic! - Can't recommend this show enough! I watched Trigun when it was on Toonami, and it still holds up today. The dub is how I recommend watching it in, but it still has the Japanese version just in case. In my opinion, the dub is superior. It's not super accurate to the manga, but thats what we have the newer one is for, which is also incredible. If you are still unsure about it, let me tell you, Trigun is a western inspired anime that has the funniest hero in all of anime. In the beginning of the show, it's very monster of the week, but as the series continues, it unfolds a conspiracy that encompasses the entire world of Gunsmoke and beyond. The entire show has the theme of Nature vs Nurture. The characters are unforgettable. The main character is an absolute icon, and has so much depth, that by the end of the show, I was sad that it was over.

An Excellent Anime
I'll admit that I'm biased about Trigun. Trigun is my favorite anime and it's a classic. Let me share, with you, why I love it. First off, Trigun has some really great characters. They all have different motivations, values, and backgrounds. Vash the Stampede is very much motivated by a strong sense of internal morality. Merry is driven by her sense of duty. Millie is a loyal and caring individual. These characters are developed really well and it's interesting to see how they react to different situations. The plot follows Vash the Stampede through his various trials and tribulations. It starts very light hearted, as the main plot isn't revealed too early on, but does get more serious and sad when you get further into the main plot line. It keeps it very interesting with some of the hardships that Vash faces. It has an interesting soundtrack. Most of the soundtrack is in a Western or jazz style. It definitely improves the feel of the show and provides great effect. Now, the animation definitely dates it. You can tell that it's an older one, but the art still looks good. If you're not a fan of older animation, you might take issue with this. Overall, I think it's a classic that improves any collection. You can definitely rewatch it and still enjoy it. The combination of great plot, awesome soundtrack, and intriguing characters culminated in a great anime experience. I'd definitely recommend it.

Since 2021, I feel this ok to mention the other important plot points. I never seen mentioned in other reviews. So If like sci fi, adventure, mystery, Then will like this anime/story as it does include unknown beings beside humans, as part of this story included in the main plot.(As will have to watch anime to find out more) As i feel this anime is overlooked because people just see it as normal western cowboy anime, when it's completely not all that, and there is much more to the story and the characters... So if you are interested in this kind of thing with sci fi/space etc/mystery beings with story lore beside westeren cowboy setting, you will like this! As there is story with plot. The story takes place, on planet gunsmoke, which is explained later in the story, on how the people/survivors from earth ended up on this planet. As note 3 moons and two suns you will see in the background in starting early episode gives a clue/hinting earth people are not on earth. etc As the story progress we learn vash tragic past. Also note he acts like goof ball/silly but that is his fake facecade and he really smart, so by watching the anime, you will find out one more reasons why he is like this. Also to note, I like how anime slowly sets up story/mystery/characters developments between each characters, as each episode progress. Though i do wish it did not end so soon, and there was more! check out the new movie to, release 2010 if do decide to to get into trigun anime! Highly recommended this anime.
