150W 2 Pack Ceramic Heat Emitter, Reptile Heat Lamp Bulb

Bought the 150W heat lamp for my daughter's pet hermit crab. We've only tried one of the two lamps and it does get hot! In fact my daughter accidentally burned the melamine surface of her desk. I measured with a temp gun and registered ~500 degC at 3-4 inches away. The penetrating heat does feel really nice on my arms from about 10 inches away. I'd say it feels like a hot dry mid-summer day in California. Though this will work for us, I'm gonna try to look for something a little lower in wattage due to finding out that the fixture I have is only rated for 75W.

These are great for a cat or dog house. Just be aware that they get very hot and require a porcelain socket, high temperature heating element wire and porcelain wire nuts to make your connections. I tried using regular wire and found the bulbs turned the insulation to carbon in a matter of months, thus creating an incredible fire hazard. Be safe and use the right materials. There is no way I would use one of these in a bathroom heater socket made for a standard heat lamp--they get far too hot.

I was worried these wouldn't be able to keep up with a bulb - boy was I wrong. It produces so much more heat, it doesn't have to run as much as the old bulb did. Also makes no light, so it won't keep you or your scaly friend awake at night. Good stuff.

I've tried contacting the seller multiple times, because one of the bulbs in the pack didn't work at all and they have not responded. I'm trying to have Amazon move things along. I want at least a partial refund. The bulbs have a very inconsistent heat, and should not be used with thermostats--that is how the first one in the pack stopped working, and actually ruined my light fixture as well. I'm so disappointed, I'll be paying the extra for a name brand with better customer service and a warranty in the future.

It worked well for the first two months (although it did burn pretty hot, made my dragons basking spot about 110), but today it burnt out which is very frustrating if you have a pet that needs to bask. Fortunately I have a backup but honestly just go buy a halogen bulb or better ceramic heater. It’ll sane you money in the long run.

I have used this type of heat emitter for several years to provide supplemental heat to livestock waterers. Prior to that I used heat bulbs, but a single drop of water on those would cause them to break. These ceramic heat bulbs can take water dripping on them without any problem. I get one to two winter’s use out of a single bulb. The pigtail they are mounted in will often corrode through the summer, that is the usual cause of failure.

Puts out great heat, works great with a thermostat and is awesome for all of my reptiles for heat. They seem to last about 9mo or so which is good to me with it running 24/7.
