Excellent 4K Image, but Sensitive to Night Light Sources Turning off IR Night Vision, Bad Audio
Review of Sunba 507-D20X 4K PTZ camera.I was happy to have this 4K camera as I am upgrading my surveillance system to 4K. For reference, I installed the Sunba 507 onto an eight-camera ONVIF-compatible 4K NVR. I use the camera for two purposes: security and to watch the wildlife in my backyard. The camera was installed on a home 1Gb POE LAN and controlled from the NVR. Read on for our test results.Update: 2 cameras, the audio is unusable as there is so much noise, and there is no ability to adjust audio gain or any audio functions. Support said power with POE, and then they were silent after that, no response. BTW they were already powered with POE, and the audio is unusable. The Good: -- EXCELLENT NIGHT VISION: Attached is a night image. Excellent image and IR reach. The IR easily illuminated 70 feet away. -- EXCELLENT DAY IMAGE: Attached is a daytime image. Lovely image with accurate colors. -- PTZ CONTROL FROM NVR: I can control PTZ within its ranges from the NVR menu. -- REASONABLY FAST PTZ: The pan, tilt and zoom move smoothly and quickly enough when moving from preset to preset. -- WELL BUILT: Appears well built and sturdy. -- PRESETs WORK: The presets work and will quickly move between saved presets. Also, good repeatability.....the camera returns to the same position each time. -- AUDIO WORKS WELL: The built in microphone creates audio artifacts when still and especially if camera uses any PTZ but does the provide reasonable and useful audio. -- OPERATED THROUGH RAIN: We had a 10 day spell of rain and the camera operated through the rain just fine. -- GOOD SUPPORT: Support is responsive to emails but there is a day lag for responses since support is from china. .The Bad: -- NOISY AUDIO. The audio has so much internal noise that it makes it unusable to pickup ambient sounds. Its powered by POE which per the manufacturer should create less noise in the audio.. -- FIDDLY ONVIF NETWORK INSTALL: I have six other ONVIF cameras, including an older Sunba 405, and with these cameras installed seamlessly on the network. The NVR immediately found those other cameras on my network, even if the IP was out of range, and allowed me to assign a local IP address but not the Sunba 507. The Sunba 507 was not found. I ended up having to use the Sunba provided a VMS app where I discovered the ONVIF protocol was turned off. After turning on ONVIF, I could assign an IP address using the VMS and then utilize the camera on my network using the NVR to control it. -- POOR DAYLIGHT SENSOR DESIGN: There is a small light sensor on the face of the camera to detect if there is light and when to turn on or off the IR for night vision (See picture). This sensor is very sensitive to light from street lamps, garden lamps etc and the camera may not turn on the IR at night as it thinks its daytime. Also another strange camera behavior may occured during our use where the the image turned purple if you pan at night past a garden light. See the attached picture. The camera has to be carefully positioned to avoid light sources at night! -- NO PHYSICAL MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS: There are no physical mounting instructions provided nor a mounting hole template. -- FALSE MOUNTING HOLES: There are larger holes on the mounting base that are filled with plastic plugs. These holes have no function. They do no go all the way through as there is a circuit board behind them so these cannot be used as mounting holes and the sealing plugs easily fall out to let water in. -- NO IR ON/OFF TIMER: Some cameras provided the ability to turn on and off the IR automatically by time of day and this would help mitigate the Sunba's poor light sensor design. Unfortunately, this camera does not have this feature. A 3rd party app like Blueiris is needed to performed timed IR control. -- LENS ARTIFACTS: When the sun or a light source is at a steep angle to the face of the camera, round and cloudy artifacts appear in the video. See the attached picture. -- LONG LEAD TIME FOR PARTS. Having a problem with my camera and past the 30 exchange window, Sunba would only send repair parts and instruction video and those take at least 10 days to arrive from china. Conclusion: A great 4K image but the camera is sensitive to night time light sources confusing the camera into thinking its daytime and not turning on the IR emitters for night vision so careful placement of the camera is needed. For this reason we remove 1 star from the rating.

ALMOST PERFECT / 2-way audio / Good native VMS / Good mobile app / Good Support
--ALMOST PERFECT / 2-way audio / Good native VMS / Good mobile app--INTROI have not field tested this device yet, I have only bench tested inside an office. I will continue to update this review as I conduct more tests.Current Set-up:- Desktop PC with Sunba VMS loaded- Network switch / Router- External Sunba microphone- External speaker (separate power source RCA to 3.5mm converter)- Mobile App android XMeye (as recommended by manufacturer)Previous Set-ups:- Dahua NVR: Problems adding camera.- Blue Iris: Works well, but do not want to pay for VMS software yetTests:- Zoom / Focus- Microphone pick-up distance and clarity- Speaker functionality- PTZ functions- Streaming / Recording Quality- Mobile App capability- IP 65/66 waterproof test (bench test)- Climate Conditions: Cold (bench test)RESULTS:- So far zoom and focus are quick and responsive. I have had little issue with focusing on desired objects. In the event that the camera is unfocused, it is very minimal and easily adjustable on both mobile and desktop VMS apps.- Microphone: works clear with no crackling or static. Relatively clear given we have a huge blaring AC system running all day. Pick-ups normal conversation 75 ft away. Have not tested farther distances. Audio streams well to VMS apps on desktop and mobile clients.- External Speaker functionality: ONLY works on mobile. Does not work via browser or desktop VMS. I tried sunba's native VMS both desktop client and onboard client (via web browser) as well as blue iris -- nothing. However voice transmission is clear and audible using a single RCA output to 3.5mm jack. I just hooked it up to my old boombox. Cranked the volume up and it works.- PTZ functions: Able to fine to PTZ speeds on native Sunba VMS. PTZ speed is unable to be changed via mobile app. Seems to be more of a limitation of the app than limitation of the camera. Perhaps there are better apps out there?- Streaming: Main stream lags over mobile. Streaming secondary with D1 @ 30 fps / CBR / 1080P / Frame interval 1 seems to work very, very well over mobile 4G networks. There is little lag, excellent clarity and looks nearly identical to main stream. Goes without saying that the main stream is excellent.- Mobile App (XMeye): super easy to add camera. Simply scanned QR code and entered password and the camera was added with full functionality (except limitations of PTZ settings noted above). And again, this is the only way to get full 2-way audio.- IP66: Upholds standards to IP 66. I doused the camera under the faucet careful not to get cords/cord port wet as that part is obviously not water tight. Bench test only, has not been exposed for long durations in outdoor variable weather.- Climate: I stuck the camera in a 15 degree freezer. Operated the camera shortly after taking it out of the freezer. PTZ was uninhibited. 2-way audio worked per norm. The only caution I would have is during snow/ice storm PTZ should be limited until camera thaws, otherwise you risk breaking hardware. Bench test only, has not been exposed for long durations in outdoor variable climate.CONCLUSIONS:- I’ve researched FLIR equivalent cameras and they’re priced at about $600 each, and availability is sparse and poorly stocked. So despite the drawback of being unable to achieve full 2-way audio on desktop clients, the price point makes the 2-way audio work around excellent. I’m not sure why they removed 2-way audio on their other versions. There are other tests I’d like to conduct and so I will be updating this review periodically.FUTURE TESTS:- Motion Detection- Sunba VMS client functions- Climate: long term – real worldQUESTIONS:I had a hard time with set-up, but Sunba guys were great. That said, I’m state-side and they’re not, so I’d be more than happy to answer questions for the duration that I’m working on this project. Cheers, and best of luck on your set-up!

Well made unit, but not for me.....
Having purchased two other Sunba PTZ units - the professional series ones - I had high hopes for this more compact version. However, for me the main problem was that the control software was not the same as the first two units, if there is a weakness with the camera ranges, then each unit may have a different control app / method of connection depending on model, so be aware if you already have a unit, that this unit if for you. I am sure Tech support would answer any query before a purchase. That said, it was again well made, and tech support was very helpful with advice, but I did end up returning the unit ( Easy to return no issues ) for another professional model so the one app controls the lot. Still if this is your first 'Sunba' unit, I am sure it would be good value for money.

Buena y mala

Tres bonne cam Pro
