Bought on recommendation of someone who knows what they're talking about (as I don't really!) and all seems good so far. Drive came well packaged and protected, fired up and appeared on the laptop desktop straight away and the included USB cable allows for quick data transfer. Probably not pushed it's ability too much yet but have backed up a ton of photos and some fairly lengthy videos without issue and at surprising speed. Barely scratched the surface in terms available space too so if you're an average Joe like me and not looking to store a TV station worth of content, this little guy should do you well.

Comes with 1.8T which is unfortunate as it’s advertised as 2T, however it works fine and still stores everything that I need. Light weight and read speed is great.

Excellent portable drive, I've brought a few of these over the last years, the price though has gone through the roof, the 5tb has risen over £30 since I bought one 6 months ago.

I've purchased 3 of these 4TB external hardrives over the past 12 months and they are proving to be reliable. The only thing I'm not so keen on is the plastic casing. Previous to this I've purchased 3 of the "Business Grey" 4TB seagate external hardrives. Which you would think to be the same internal drive but with a nicer outer casing with an aluminium casing on the top. These are more expensive! and not as reliable as the cheaper black plastic casing above. So I will always order the cheaper 4TB as from now. All 3 of my "Business Grey" drives always have "error" messages when 1st playing a movie on the "Sumvision Cycline Micro 2+ 4K media player? Without fail, but after the 1st error message the files play OK. I don't have this problem with these cheaper black casing 4TB hardrives. Avoid the nicer looking, more expensive "Business Grey" drives and I would highly recommend these drives instead as they seem to be more reliable and not as sensitive.

Small & very light - the same height as a soft drinks can & not much wider. Exactly what's needed if you want to to have a backup kept elsewhere (or several) - which is the best policy. 2TB storage for the price is very good value for money & I've used Seagate internal & external drives for decades, without issue. A trusted brand is important to me - especially for data backups. You can download Seagate's backup software for free (it's their version of the Acronis backup software), or use another program of your choice. USB3 is certainly fast enough for copying individual, or small numbers of files. Seagate do offer a free, data recovery scheme, so will attempt to recover your data if this drive malfunctions. That's very welcome at this price - an excellent benefit. The USB cable is short, but only an issue if your USB3 ports are at the back of your computer, as you can always use an extension cable.

I bought this in February 2024 and it was brilliant. Until I had an accident in January this year when it flew through thr air and hit my cube unit and it caused fatal damage. Seagate have a 2 year warranty with a data recovery plan. I was just in time. They sent me a recertified 5tb drive and then a month after sending my faulty drive off I got an email to say the recovery was successful. I got a second drive in the post with my 2.5tb data there. 96.8% was successfully recovered and the other 3.2% was there in a file called BadFiles. And all those were amongst my files on my 2tb backup drive. A very valuable service and I'm really pleased to have chosen seagate. The second drive was a 5tb PS5 game drive so now thinking about buying another drive so I can use that as a game drive.

It uses a specific wire for this unit. If you lose it, you’ll have to do some research to find the exact replacement. It’s not as universal as I would have liked. Overall, it gives us peace of mind knowing our baby’s photos and videos are backed up safely. For a family looking for a simple, reliable storage solution, this is a great option.

Die Festplatte wurde sofort erkannt, und die Integration als Netzwerkspeicher funktionierte einwandfrei. Dank der USB 3.0-Schnittstelle ist die Verbindung stabil und die Datenübertragung flott. Leistung und Zuverlässigkeit Für meine Bedürfnisse – hauptsächlich die Sicherung von Daten sowie das Speichern von Fotos und Videos von verschiedenen Smartphones – ist die Geschwindigkeit dieser HDD völlig ausreichend. Die Festplatte arbeitet leise und ohne merkliche Erwärmung, selbst bei Dauereinsatz. Seit Juni läuft sie ohne Unterbrechung und hat bisher keinerlei Ausfälle oder Datenverluste verzeichnet. Die Datenübertragung ist zügig genug, um große Dateimengen effizient zu verwalten, ohne lange Wartezeiten in Kauf nehmen zu müssen.
