Large Sized B52 Giant Venus Flytrap - Fly Trap - (Dionaea Muscipula) Carnivorous Plant 3 inch Pot

Allow me to introduce you to the newest member of my plant family! His name is Hannibal! The instructions were clear and the video helped too. I'll be buying from him again! The shipping was a lot faster than expected. Update: I had hannibal under a glow light on a low table. For some reason he was dying. I couldnt figure out why. I spent a lot of time online trying to figure out what could be wrong. I was giving him distilled water and he was getting plenty if light but he was still dying. He only had a couple of heads left and even those wouldnt eat. I figured out that I was feeding it too much and too often when I first got him. So I started feeding each plant every couple of weeks. It didn't actually help. I then had a hunch that I decided to act upon. The planter that I had his basket in. Could that be the problem? Was my cool resin (or something) skull poisoning my dear Hannibal? I put him in a glass dish. After 2 or 3 weeks he started to perk up and his one head finally had a weak response to feeding. I had so much hope. And then Moose happened. Video footage from our security camera shows Hannibal being thrashed by our dog. My one plant was torn in two and the one head was not well. I almost gave up. I put his basket back together, albeit with the addition of some dog hair from me picking the moss stuff up off of the carpet and put Hannibal up on the mantel. His last head died but there were a couple of sprouts that gave me hope. It took another couple of weeks before he was responsive again. More heads have grown and he is doing well so far! We had a rough start but I think we've got it now! My only concern now is that the mossy stuff seems to have a little bit on white mold on it... not sure if its bad...? I know that there are good white mold/spores that plants can have... idk. I'll do more research and probably replace the moss stuff.

We love this plant! We are military, and so we are renting, and I refuse to buy screen doors for someone else's house, but we continually have flies flying in when we let our dogs in or out or any time we open the door -- I swear, the things come out of nowhere. Anyway, I originally was just looking for a nice-looking fly trap which I could put in the house, which would not look like a fly trap, but just like some nice decoration (which, I found do not exist -- they all look like things that belong on a patio or outdoors), and then I thought - "Plant's look nice inside, maybe I'll try a carnivorous plant." We love this thing. The first week alone it caught 4 flies inside our house. It's fun to watch it also. The one thing I would suggest though, the sellers should include instructions on the amount of sunlight and type of sunlight (ie: 4 hours of direct sunlight - like outdoors - or 8 ours indirect - like by a window) and the type of water it needs (NOT tapwater! Distilled or Reverse Osmosis treated only - nothing with minerals in it - this will kill your plant, according to everything I've looked up online). So, proper instructions I think should be provided, or at least advice to look up online how to properly care for it. My plant has been flourishing since I've potted it correctly and Googled what kind of water and sunlight to give it, etc. They are actually very easy to care for. So ... just a couple tips for the seller - either provide those instructions, or tell your customers to look up how to properly care for it. My husband, when he found out I ordered this plant, told me that he had had several when he was young and they were really difficult to care for and I'd be lucky if mine lived longer than a week. I can almost guarantee you it was because he used regular tap-water and didn't know about the sunlight (incidentally, the red mouth comes from them getting proper sunlight - if they don't have that, that's a sign they are not getting enough sunlight). Anyway, mine has been doing great, and I love the fact that it's not an eyesore in our house, and it's even fun to watch :-) Very happy with this purchase. Just again - make sure you Google or even YouTube how to properly care for it.

I received a; 'Large Sized B52 Giant Venus Flytrap - Fly Trap - (Dionaea Muscipula) Carnivorous Plant 3 inch Pot' on March 19th that I ordered on Amazon /Joel's Carnivorous Plants. (Email address sent does not exist by the way to communicate with seller.) When the plant arrived it looked rough from the commute. The plastic that surrounded the plant was very damp and there was a great deal of condensation inside the plastic. The roots of the bulb were black and there was a good deal of black on the plant itself. SelIer said it might take a few days to adapt to new surroundings. I followed the instructions that accompanied the plant but it arrived past the point of saving. It was dead on arrival but I gave it a chance. The reasons for my discontent with this purchase: 1. I received a dead plant (package looked like it was kicked here) 2. I followed all directions and gave it a shot to maybe recover - did not happen. And hey - that happens.... 3. I tried to contact the seller but the email he provided came up as not a valid email and would not send 4. When I tried to return/refund the seller wanted the dead plant he sent me returned exactly as he sent it and there could be a 50% restocking fee for something or other. Are you kidding me?!?! 5. A friend bought one for her daughter for Christmas and same scenario. I have healthy Venus Fly Traps, this was not one. Buyer Beware.

My grandson loves this plant! We've had our venus flytrap for 1 year now and is heathly and growing, its exactly as described, Delivered quickly and on time, We recieved our Venus Flytrap live plant healthy and nothing broken this guy packaged it like a professional I'm impressed and comes with easy to follow detailed instructions and YouTube video was helpful to watch and yes distilled water is a must he's right and knows his stuff. We placed our Venus flytrap outside on the front porch but not in direct sunlight and is very healthy and happy there but for the cold winter I have had it indoors near the kitchen window and is doing really good heathly and happy there too, we are always in and out of our house with a lot of grandkids opening doors and we live in Southeast Texas so I see a few flys, nat's and mosquitoes that get inside and they get trapped in the Venus flytrap, it's so cool to watch when it closes. A great buy, I believe you will love it too!

We purchased these plants when my wife wanted to add some variety to the house plants we have around our home. They arrived well packaged and healthy looking. We carefully unpacked the plant and gave it a couple days to adjust. After a week we had all the planters and terrariums we needed for replant our new additions. The repotting process was a simple YouTube search and more purchases from Amazon. I won't get into the specifics, but after the repotting and feeding we thought we had done a good job and were happy with ourselves. No even two days later, they were dead. Black and closed. The crickets and flys just wandered the glass domain they found as their home. If you are in the market to add some carnivorous plants to your plants around the house, know what you are doing. We didn't. They were a fun idea, more a novelty than a real plant idea though. If you really want to grow them you'll need to have an area you can build a terrarium. They need a humid environment to really do well we found. We didn't have the best experience with this product. But that was our fault not that of the product nor even the seller. We do recommend this product, just do your homework first. Enjoy.

I got this plant 3+ months ago. Here's some honest pros and cons about this purchase: PROS: - Seller is very honest. Replies to emails right away, if you have a question. - He also has YouTube channel where he demonstrates how to plant these and how to tend to them. (Search for user bookbearerplus on YouTube.) Make sure to watch it before you order, or even after, before you plant. - It is very exciting at first to have this plant shut on an insect (somewhat fast for a plant.) It is also cool to tell people that you have a carnivorous plant. If you have a small niece or nephew you'll be a star for a few hours with this plant. - Doesn't require any fertilizer. In most part it doesn't need much attention. - It doesn't need more than a fly or two per week. CONS: - The plant that you'll grow will not look the one on the picture (mine doesn't.) See my picture attached. - The plant itself is tiny. I put my hand in the shot on purpose to show its size. So don't expect anything large. - You will not get a plant in a pot when you receive it through mail. It will come in a small plastic bag as a couple of seedlings which you will have to plant yourself. It is somewhat easy if you watch his YouTube video. I didn't know about the video though, so I tried to do it myself, and not having much of a gardening experience, it was quite time frustrating. - I'm not sure how this plant will catch flies on its own, mine doesn't. It would seriously die if I don't get it some insects. And that is time consuming. It doesn't need much. But still it's a chore. - This plant needs distilled water. And you cannot water it with the tap water. This means that you will have to remember to buy a jug of distilled water at your local grocery story. Not a big deal but still something to remember.

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share this story about what an awesome find this plant and JoelsCarnivorousPlants were! My almost five-year-old had been asking for a Venus Fly Trap plant for months. After checking local gardening stores to no avail, we decided to check online. We made the order, bought all the necessary supplies (distilled water, freeze-dried worms, plant light) and waited for its arrival. Unfortunately, due to the world at its current state (Covid, protests, etc.,) shipping took longer than estimated. When the plant arrived, more than half the plant was black. We followed the very thorough and easy-to-follow instructions that came with the plant. However, the plant overheated and looked like it was not going to make it. My little guy kept asking if his Venus Trap Fly (as he calls it) was supposed to be that color because even he could sense that something was wrong. As a parent, my heart sunk because I knew the plant was not going to make it to its first feeding and that would have really disappointed my son. I emailed the seller to see if there was anything I could do to salvage the plant. He promptly (within minutes) responded. He asked all the right questions, and when he knew we weren't responsible for the plant's condition, he did not hesitate to send us a new plant. What an awesome gesture -- especially during these tough times! We received the new plant as projected this time around. The plant is doing well and my son is over the moon. There are so many wonderful lessons to be taught/learned about caring for a living thing -- a carnivorous plant. But the most invaluable lesson of all was sharing with my son that there are kind and generous people out there like the man who owns JoelsCarnivorousPlants who wanted to ensure my son experienced all the joys of caring for his plant. This plant is so cute! It was a gift for my husband and arrived 10 days before the estimated arrival date. Seller is amazing in that he gives you exact details of how to care for your plant, and pretty much answers any question you might have with all of his care sheet information. It’s very thorough- and I’m grateful! The plant arrived well packed. I was super worried that it sat in my mailbox for about 2 hrs, in the Florida heat- but it was just fine. I left it wrapped in the packaging, as described, for another day indoors. I waited to unpack until I had purchased some distilled water. I followed the directions exactly (don’t unwrap until you’re ready to put in basket). I’ve put him in his basket, in a butter tub. (Ugly, I know.) I water his tub every 3 days or so. I’ve got him in the screened patio, and he has bright sunlight during the afternoon. He receives west facing light. (My patio isn’t super shady.) I live in very SE Florida. Our humidity is no joke. I’ve been a little scared to try rain water with him, mainly Bcs I don’t want him to die, since he was so costly. I have however given him one baby cricket, via tweezers, which worked really well. (I have a pet tree frog that I feed baby crickets to, so I already had them.) He has lost two shoots (one right after arrival), and grown one. Looks very healthy and happy. My husband is thrilled with him! I look forward to repotting him in a prettier setup someday, but I don’t want to rock the boat. Lol
