Bought to make mum's central heating accessible via app - works perfectly.
I had the old hive system shortly after it came out and this system blows it out of the water. My mum moved into a house with all the hive system installed by the previous owner took the hub so left the heating working only through manually using the thermostats. She was in two minds as to the value of buying this but now enjoys using the system (even if she occasionally needs some tech support!).I found the installation relatively straight forward (I'm quite comfortable with tech but think most people could follow the youtube videos I used - my go to move even more than using the manual).This looks decent, works well and is well worth the money for the extra options it gives you. Overall, I would happily buy again.

Essential for a holiday home
Never understood why you would want to control your heating from your phone. Have now bought a holiday home and realise these are essential. Sadly today people don’t care to turn off the heating when they check out.Note the instructions are awful. Needed to pair new hub with existing boiler controller and smart plug. Sorted it after watching very helpful 3rd party video on you tube. Simple when you know how. No chance with hub instructions.

Good product but challenging to set up
I bought the Hive Hub so that I could control my central heating from the Hive mobile phone app. This is a neat little device that fits well into the domestic setting. It's relatively unobtrusive and it was easy to connect it to a broadband router and power up. That's where the simplicity ended, however.I should point out that I was trying to add it to an existing Hive system, rather than setting up a whole new installation from scratch. (In case you're not aware, the Hub is linked forever to the person using it, so when you move into a home with an existing Hive system, you cannot use the Hub belonging to the previous homeowner/tenant, you have to buy a new one).The instructions that come in the packaging are quite limited in scope. They only apply to a brand new install and give no clue about how to match the device to an existing system. I had to go online to find a more comprehensive user manual, but that wasn't really much help. During the setup process the device didn't behave in the way the manual suggested it would. After repeated attempts to get it set up and a lot of frustration, I gave up and left it, thinking I would re-read the manual and try again after a break. Imagine my surprise (and delight) when I went back to it, only to find that, in the meantime, the boiler and thermostat had paired with the new Hub, entirely without any interaction from me!Since then it has worked without a hitch. I can turn the heating on and off, and set the temperature from my phone. It also allows the heating to be programmed from the phone app to automatically come on and go off to a timed schedule. Aside from the challenging set up process, there's really nothing else not to like about this device.

Call the tech line when setting up.
So I bought this hub yesterday which was four years after having moving into my home which has hive installed but I was unable to use the allocated hub. So I set up the app, no luck with syncing the device. I went onto you tube to watch a tutorial which involves resetting the thermostat to link with the hive. Big mistake I totally wiped it’s link with the receiver and could not get it to link back with the boiler or hub. So I bit the bullet and done what I should have in the first place and done an online chat with hive. Honestly; they were fantastic. They took me through every part of the installation step by step and even called me at the end to make sure it was all okay. I would definitely recommend this, but when you get it just use the hive chat box in the app and get someone to talk you through the process because resetting the thermostat to link it all is very precise. You’ll save a lot of hassle and stress. They will have you up and running in 15 mins. I was an hour as we had to undo the mess I made of it all. But they did help me undo it. Thanks Megan at Hive you were amazing!

Unit already registered to another person
Tried to connect but wouldn't. Other reviews had same comment.Engineer came from Hive.The unit I had purchased from Amazon must have been returned previously, but in that process it was registered to someone else.

not compatible with v1 Thermostat
I had a HIVE Thermostat and a Receiver which I inherited when moving into this house , so i had to purchase a new hub in order to be able to control it through my phone. Even though on their website HIVE states that V1 Thermostat should be compatible with the latest, in reality it is not. I spent hours across 2 weeks with customer support who made me go through the same troubleshooting steps every time I spoke to them, only to see the result was the same - Received was not seen by the Hub in my app, even though everything was connected. They said they could send an engineer but would have to charge me 100£ which I do not think it's fair since it's a product that it is meant to be compatible based on their statement, so they should offer the engineer. They told me to buy the new version so I spent a further 200£ to get the new thermostat+installation, but they failed to schedule it in their system so I waited for another 2-3 weeks and the engineer never showed up. In the meantime, I was not able to properly control my heating, and with a young child it has proven to be very difficult, having to wake up twice a night to manually control it. When contacted, again HIVE customer support failed to provide a solution or even an apology; very unreliable product and customer support so I chose to go with Google NEST instead with an installation in the next 3 days.

Difficult to set up.
Took me ages to get this set up but did it in the end, their technical support did phone back but hours later.My main bone of contention is that I had to buy this in the first place.I bought a new house with Hive heating installed, and you need to log on to the hub for full functionality.Here is the issue, the old hub is registered to the old owner, and you cannot transfer it to new ownership so have to buy a new one, and the price is frankly a bit steep for what it is.
