Kaytee Perfect Chews for Rats

I have 5 chew sticks that I got from Wal-Mart. They look like mini lincoln log sticks. My rats weren't chewing those that much, so I figured they'd like this toy. Within the first day of having it in their new cage (SuperPet My First Home For Exotics; amazing cage), they were chewing it. The other day, I saw one of their other chew sticks. They have chewed that one up practically to shreds; more so than this chew toy. I think the reason they didn't chew their first chew stick was they were kinda cramped in their old habitat (SuperPet My First Home Tank Topper; I don't love it, but it might be good for a smaller animal like a hamster or gerbil. The most annoying thing was the top not wanting to close, and when I finally got it closed it was loud and scared the crap out of my rats. They'd jump then duck down like they were taking cover. Somewhat funny, but still.. lol) So, my rats haven't chewed this nearly as much as they've chewed this other chew stick, but it's a nice design to their cage. It makes it look a little more fun. I'm not sure that rats need expert interior decor, but I know that they are smart and intelligent; a little more advanced and intelligent than a year or two old child, and children need toys and things to stimulate their minds. I am in no way saying rats are smarter than kids or humans, just that a full grown rat has the mentality of a 3 or older year old child, and that children younger than that need toys and stuff. I paid $4 and some change for this, a little more than the chew sticks at Wal-Mart, but I think this is pretty cool and they like it.

My rats hate it for some reason but it’s a cool toy, I would like it if I were a rat. It adds a splash of color to the cage and my rats seem to like to pee on it, so at least it’s going to some use.. It even says “rat” on it in case the rats were to become self-aware, it gives them a chance to learn their species’ name; very cool.

My daughter has four rats and I purchased this toy for them as a little gift for her. It is about six inches in length and it can be clipped to the top of the cage. The rats do seem to like to chew on it from time to time, and it does now have some chew marks on it. It is a cute little toy, and it was a reasonable price, and it is pretty durable so it should last for quite a long time. The seller was quite prompt in delivery and it arrived in great condition.

This is a very cute cage accessory/toy. My rats enjoy chewing on it and they also appear to wrestle with it from time to time. Very cute and worth the price.

I've been looking for this in stores for months, but could never find it. I have one for my hamsters, and they have all loved it, and I wanted one for my 2 rats. I was so happy when it came. I like that it hangs on the bars of the cage instead of lying on the ground, and I love that they say the name of the animal (like "Rat" or "Hamster"), that's one of the main reasons I bought them. I would definitely recommend these types of chews to any small animal owner, and I plan on getting more for all my hammies! :)

I have two female rats that showed interest in this item when I put it in the cage, but they didn't really chew on it at all until about an hour later. When they started playing with it, the line keeping the chews together snapped within ten minutes of use. Since then, I have left the chew blocks scattered in their cage and they occasionally chew on them. This is fine and I can get around to stringing them up some other way, but the product pictured can fall to pieces very quickly.

I bought this toy for two pet rats. They loved it! It lasted a long time. It’s cute and colorful. The perfect size for them.

Use to buy chewing wood and toys elsewhere before I found this one. My rats love to play with it. Ordered another one and will definitely buy more soon.

Great chew toy! stick holding them together didn't last long. balls quickly chewed. My pet rats love this!

These are probably really great for rats, but I purchased for my chinchillas for a change in colour for them, and just like the chin stick they just chew at the top until it falls off :( Don’t buy for Chinchillas lol
