A Little Ova Confident, Nine? (Rating: 5 out of 10- -2.5 stars)
Very seldom you will see me post an unfavorable review of an album, especially if it has came from the early or mid 90's. That doesn't mean that I haven't came across my fair share of bad albums from those days, and especially with the standards of hip hop albums here in 2008, would make an album that dropped 12 years ago sound like a classic. Unfortunately that is not always the case. Case in point Nine's sophomore album Cloud 9. When I first heard his debut album Nine Livez , I liked his raspy voice and knowing the fact that he had a lot of energy behind the microphone. Here, on most tracks, he sounds completely weak, as if one would have thought he began rhyming the day before he recorded this album. Many tracks he has a hard time trying to stay on beat. Listen to "Know Introduction" and hear how off beat he sounds. "Uncilivized" is another track he has a hard time staying on beat. Other tracks he sounds like he has absolutely no energy when he rhymes, like on "Lyin' King", which is otherwise great, subject matter wise. Then there are tracks that fail to mix, like on "Tha Product" featuring U-Neek, who sounds wack. Now there are a few great tracks, on this album that are mostly towards the end. "Jon Doe" is a nice track, mostly because Nine can ride the beat much better than he does on most songs, and the beat is good. In fact, most of the beats on here are good. A bangin' track, in my opinion, would be "Make Or Take" featuring Smoothe Tha Hustler. That's the Nine I wanted to hear since his previous album. The last track "4 Chicken Wings & Rice (1991)" is another standout as Nine rhymes about his struggles back in the day before getting put on. Only person who mentioned the title "4 Chicken Wings..." would be Diamond D, so I saw that sample comming from a mile away.To me, Cloud 9 is average. Whatever Nine brought with himself on his debut, he fails to bring it here. There are some good moments that are on this album, but they are few and far in between. And as talented as Nine is, I wished he would have put out another album after this, because he dissapeared on a bad note after this album. My review seems to be different than everyone elses here about this album, so my recommendation is to find this album, at a cheap price, and give it a listen. I paid 10 bucks for this, so ignore the price above you see. Peace.Lyrics: CProduction: B-Guest Appearances: D+Musical Vibes: C-Top 5 Tracks:1. Make Or Take (featuring Smoothe Tha Hustler)2. The Best Unknown Hip Hop Artist!
Ever since I discovered 9 on a trip to Germany in 97 (he has more exposure in Europe than at home, thats a damn shame) he has been on the top of my quote unquote underground rappers list. I have been trying to find out about him in the last 8 years, but its like he just disappeared from the map. Wack promotion and marketing held Nine back from probably becoming a viable commercial act. Listen to a couple cuts offa Nine Livez and then check out Cloud Nine. Talk about progression. Cloud Nine is a notable improvement and at the same I would put it in a drawer with Doggystyle, Illmatic, or Strictly 4, you can put it on 1 and just let it play through with only a couple disappointing moments. That right there is an acheivement in hip hop, and NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW. Unless you all buy this album, give it to your friends, and call your local radio stations requesting "classic 9 issht!"

9 Dubble M - a god of oldschool hardcore rap
when i first heard Nine i was fully into metal/deathmetal an some rap...his debute cd Nine Livez blew me away, an with Cloud 9 i was even more impressed...such a shame that Prioty went under...then a few years later DMX comes out stealin Nine's style, he did a poor job and should be ashamed.I'm hoping Nine will get back on the scene soon...dont know what the guy that said nine was off beat on cloud 9 is talking about he obisily knows nothing about nine or rap for that matter. dont trash on a kingpin of a style that was completely innovative, raw an new. there will never be a rapper that can compete or even compare to Nine...ill end my review saying if u can get ahold of this cd an his first cd Nine Livez DO it! he's one of a kind an in my honest opinon the best rapper ever...if you happen to read this Nine...keep it real man, drop us a new cd!

Nine - Cloud 9
This Cat sounds just like Xzibit would if he had a real bad cold, But it works for Him. His lyrics hit hard, with meaning, and the beats are very good. His flows are always right on beat. The most amazing thing about this album is the fact that it came out almost 10 years ago, and it hasnt aged at all. It is still one of the best albums i own, and thats saying alot because I am a huge collector of rap albums. I still listen to this album, it would be pointless to name the top tracks because ever song is good and has something to offer. I Highly reccomend It.
