This Isn't What It Looks Like (The Secret Series, Book 4)

My son is seven. He devoured the Harry Potter books, but I had him stop after book five. At that point, I was in a real quandry. I needed a book series that would have an age appropriate story line yet challenge him with vocabulary and reading comprehension without being too taxing. The Secret Series was the perfect solution for my young voracious reader.This book will appeal to both boys and girls as there are two main characters of each gender. Plus, the girl isn't overly "girly", so she doesn't turn my son off.The entire series of books has mystery, intrigue, and loads of humor. However, I do recommend starting with book one and reading the subsequent books sequentially.

This book is a part of the Secret series. The writer is very funny and offers a little lot of comedy along with a serious storyline. I read this book to my 9 year old and he loved it. The story is about two kids that find themselves in the middle of a mysterious situation. They have to find a solution on their own. Very interesting story that kept you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend this series of books.

This series is one of my favorites. It has suspense around each and every corner. Don't tell Pseudonymous Bosch I said this, but I am 98% sure he is "Max-Ernest"

We purchased the Kindle version initially, but it was too difficult to manipulate since the footnotes which are integral to the story were at the back of each chapter and not on the bottom of each page like in the book. We returned it and purchased the hard copy. My daughter is ten and reads a great deal. Somehow, this series did not appeal to her initially and sat on her bookshelf for more than a year. Once got past the first few chapters, she read them all quickly. They were great fun and a tremendous success.

My kids loved these books and I always make myself read the books before I let them read them to make sure they are ok for consumption. I can honestly say that I did not hate reading them either. The are definitely kiddie so I would recommend for ages 10 -14ish maybe younger if your child is a good reader or older if your child is immature. These books are light action adventures that at times pull at your heart strings and also can make you laugh.

This is an excellent book!! I feel as if each book in this series gets better and better! Pseudonymous Boschhas done extremely well in creating this new series!! The ending leaves you hanging and wanting more. It makes me upset that when I finally get to a really good part, he lets you turn the next page and it says...THE END!!!!!! I am so excited to finish the series!! A really good book for people who like mystery with a twist on modern-day. I also recommend for people who enjoyed this series is The Mysterious Benedict Society!! An excellent series as well!!

My middle schoolers love it

This is a wonderful book series for 5th or 6th graders. Very pleased with price, packaging and my child is enjoying this author.

My daughter found this book and the rest of this series so fantastic. I would recommend it for ages 8+.

I think this book is worth five stars because it has lots of funny humour and some emotional parts which really grab you into the book. I love the friendship between max-earnest and Cass I would recommend this to any reader who lives a hard to put down adventure book!

I love the Secret series, but I really wasn't sure about this one. I got put off by the medieval times, & thought it wasn't as good as normal... the writing wasn't as sharp, & I could only read a couple of chapters at a time because the way PB wrote it, I kept finding it hard to focus on what I was reading. I think the series work best when Max & Cass are together... doesn't quite work so well with them apart.

I really hated it when he left it at such an annoying part.I just can’t wait to read more.(7 yr old)
