Munchkin 2 - Unnatural Axe is an expansion pack for the beloved Munchkin game, designed for 3 to 6 players aged 10 and up. This fantasy adventure theme offers 1-2 hours of engaging gameplay, requiring the base game to join in on the fun.

Great Continuation
If you love Munchkin as much as my kids do (ages 8-12), you won't be sorry with this purchase either. This is an expansion pack of cards to be mixed in and utilized with the original Munchkin "Door" and "Treasure" cards. It enhances the original game through additional combat modification cards, races, and encouraging owners to create their own custom cards (a very cool idea!).The only thing to be aware of though is that while this game is fantastic for children, some of the cards are decidedly more mature. Not lewd per se, but definitely aimed at an older audience. In this expansion pack, for example, there is the Lust Monster, which should be fought by players of the opposite sex. Your kids are probably not going to pick up on the nuances of this monster or the reason for the particular rules on fighting it. If the game is intended for kids, I wish that was kept more in mind. Official packaging says ages 10-14. Are sexual allusions really necessary? This game is enjoyable because it encourages interaction between the players. Alliances shift and reform over the course of a game. Players benefit from working with one another throughout the game, even if it is only to stop another player from winning. It's really a clever game and a lot of fun.

Great addition to the first! New race and a new game mechanic introduced
This expansion adds 112 new cards. It gives you 2 blank door cards and 2 blank treasure cards if you want to get creative. You get the new race of orcs. There are a few items that only orcs can use. The orc does the following...Orc: bonus#1. An orc who is hit with a curse can always choose to ignore the curse and lose a level instead - unless hes already at level 1.Bonus #2 when an orc fighting alone defeats a monster by more than 10, he goes up an extra level. There is another mechanic too. Item enhancers. These cards are to be played on an item you already have in play; they cannot be played by themselves.Other then that there is a good spread of items, curses, monsters, and boons to add to your munchkin deck. Please note this is an expansion and not a standalone deck.

Stop thinking about it. Just buy it. Trust me.
If you have played the original Munchkin and feel that you'd like to branch out, try boosting the original game with this booster pack. It is so much fun! After only a few rounds with this booster, the original game feels like a totally different one! This booster apparently precedes the others, not just in number, but in minor details such as adding the orc race to the deck. You get new items, new monsters, new curses, and new twists. I could write pages, but you wouldn't want to read all that. Just go for it! Buy this and add it to your original Munchkin game today! Seriously. Do it. Do it now.

Worth the money
Games like Munchkin can cost a lot when you factor in how much each expansion costs, but you luckily don't need every expansion in order to enjoy the game. I have the main set along with the first two expansions (unnatural axe and clerical errors), and the huge number of cards this allows me to play with will take a very long time to get bored with before I even consider more expansions. The large variety of cards makes for a very challenging and different gameplay every time you bring this out. It is easy to learn, and makes for a great, humorous, and strategic card game.

Unnatural Axe lead to unnatural fun!
Added this extension for my second game of Munchkin (discovered the Deluxe edition in early December 2014.) Despite having only played one game with the basic set, this expansion added a lot of hilarious, idiotic fun to the game (group consisted of myself and three college freshman guys.) The Orc race turned out to be a game winner for me! Won the game with only a Sneaky Bastard Sword and Spiked Codpiece while everyone else was loaded to the hilt with weapons and gear.Besides the Orc race, the rest of this 100+ card pack has plenty of wacky items, curses, and new monsters to add zest to a basic Munchkin set. Definitely a worthwhile purchase if you enjoy rowdy, back-stabbing dungeon crawls Munchkin-style.

My third favorite expansion (out of 8) for Fantasy Munchkin
Unnatural Axe is a 112 card expansion for the Fantasy Munchkin theme. It contains 64 door cards (plus 2 bland door cards so you can create your own) and 44 treasure cards (plus 2 blank cards). It also adds on new race (Orcs), bringing the total to 5 if you count humans. The number of cards and the fact that it adds a new race really adds to the variety and replayability of the game. You don't need a ton of expansions to get the most out of the base game, but the base game and least two are definitely worthwhile investment. I own all of the Fantasy Munchkin expansions, and if I were to recommend an order to get the most new variety for your dollar, I would suggest Munchkin 3 followed by Munchkin 8 followed by this one.Note, SJG recently re-released in a Special Edition of Unnatural Axe. It's not available on Amazon yet, but hopefully it will be soon. It contains everything in the regular Unnatural Axe, plus a set of six female pawns that were originally only available here: Bag O Munchkin Plus 6 Babes .

Another good option for this issue is combining it with Munchkin ...
The most notable addition of this expansion is adding more high powered monsters to fight. The original has only a few monsters that are higher than lvl 15. Another good option for this issue is combining it with Munchkin Pathfinder although that would be doubling the amount of cards in play instead of just increasing by a half. Other good facts about this expansion is that it adds the orc race although I have never had that race be used as of now, so I cannot say on how it changes the game. The items/curses and other cards also flow well with the original. All in all I was told by other friends to skip this one and get some of the other expansions like steeds, but ended up getting this one because of one review I read about the extra monsters and do not regret it. The extra high lvl monsters can if used right help keep players with other classes besides wizards, since the wizard does have the very overpowering charm ability.

More loot, more monsters, more Munchkin back-handedness!
I bought this after playing a few games of Munchkin using just the original (deluxe) set, and can safely say that this set really, really should be included with the original. Don't get me wrong, the original set is fine, great fun and perfectly playable on its own, but this set really does up the level of fun. Included in this set are enough extra treasure and door cards that you won't need to worry about running out on a 3-4 player game. Because of these extra cards, you'll find you have a lot more items to play with, and a lot more variety in terms of monsters, enhancers and curses to play against each other. This set also works out some of the kinks in the original game (it makes everything a bit more balanced and as such, a lot more tactical), and definitely makes it a lot more enjoyable; you won't any longer find one person way ahead just because they got all the good cards, now there are more good cards for everyone, making for much more interesting combat (and sneaky Munchkin thievery, cursing and general back-handedness).Definitely recommended.
