GREAT drive. exactly as advertised, for good or ill.
Small and useful! pros: standard usb 2/3 connector + usb c connector. very versatile READ SPEED OS installs from this drive are wicked fast small: i have this attached to a lanyard and it is very small and light. great addition to my bag of tools accurate specifications: read/write is dead on as advertised. i used this in a heavy read environment and it works GREAT. i wish more companies truthfully advertised a device's capabilities. i know where to NOT use the drive. future proof and legacy happy: usb C will likely dominate all future devices. small and fast. cons: WRITE SPEED: good grief, it is exactly as advertised. SLOW. i have generic usb 2 drives with better write speeds. kudos for accurate specifications and no stars docked. see above don't use this for lots of writes. i pull the usb C cover everytime i remove the drive. once inserted into a standard usb 2/3 port, it is nearly impossible to remove without pulling the cover for the usb c port. seems pretty sturdy, but i have to push it back down after i pull it out. i tried removing the cover, but there is even less material to grab from the usb c port alone. other: i have 2 already. i will buy more as needed for boot disks and other heavy read conditions. this drive has no peer for OS installs at this price. 100+mb/s reads for such a cheap price.

... these a few months ago and have been very happy. Today
I bought 2 of these a few months ago and have been very happy. Today, I came back to order 2 more and decided to leave a review while I'm at it. These are very inexpensive, very reliable, and, as other reviewers have mentioned, very *honest*. The write performance is not great, but they don't try to lie to you about it. But for the price they're unbeatable, and they work equally well with USB-C on my MacBook and USB-A 3 on my desktop PC. They are VERY small which can be both good and bad: they're easy to store, but also easy to lose. My only real complaint is that there's no good way to label them. They're so small that there's no real place to put a label, and since the cover is clear it's not easy to write on either. For the first two, I used a black marker to mark the inside of the plastic so I can tell the difference, but I really have no idea what I'm going to do for the next 2.

A fantastic flash drive!!!
This is probably one of the best purchases of all time for a flashdrive. It's so convenient to have the couple entrances (Typr-C to Type-A and vice versa). I bought this back in 2019 and used it to transfer files from my phone to my computer and back. I also recently used wit with my iPad Air 4 and it works just as good as it did with my phone. I also like it comes with a built in plastic cover so the Type C entrance doesn't get damaged. The Flash drive works like a charm. I highly recommend it for a college student. (It work with macbooks and anything type C.)

Good Sequential Read Speed / Disappointing in Write
I tested the Read/Write speeds of this Kingston Data Traveler Micro Duo USB 3C Flash Drive (DTDUO3C/32GB ) on two different computers, using the benchmark program 'CrystalDiskMark 3.01 x64': - When plugged in to an USB 2.0 port: Sequential Read=34.5MB/s, Write=12.8MB/s - When plugged in to an USB 3.0 port: Read=122.5MB/s, Write=19.6MB/s (See my uploaded screenshot for details) The product description claims "100MB/s Read, 15MB/s Write". So my measured results are actually better than advertised. Just for reference, my SanDisk Ultra Fit Series USB 3.0 Flash Drive gives a more impressive performance. Its Sequential Read is similar at 148.4MB/s, while its Sequential Write is twice as fast at 39.4MB/s. But it is not a duo-port drive. On the other hand, my SanDisk Ultra Micro USB 2.0 OTG Flash Drive is a duo-port drive, and its performance is much worse: Read=20.7MB/s, Write=9.6MB/s. The Sony Microvault USB Flash Drive is slightly better with Read=23.4MB/s, Write=12.9MB/s [Bottom Line] Although the Write speed of this Data Traveler Micro Duo is not as good as that of the Sandisk Ultra Fit, it is actually better than advertised, and faster than my other dual-port drives. So I still consider it a good product at its present low price. [Other Remarks] - The smaller port of this drive is an USB Type-C port, not a micro-USB port. If you are looking for the latter, consider the Data Traveler Micro Duo USB 3.0 Micro USB OTG drive instead. - The clear plastic cover over the smaller port feels flimsy. It slides out every time I unplug the drive from my computer. I hope it does not break off too soon. - The capacity of this '32GB' drive, according to my computer, is only 28.8GB. Now I know all about the difference between what is called one Giga-Byte for computer people (2 to the power 30 bytes) and for marketing people (1 billion bytes). But the discrepancy is too large here, as 28.8*2^30 = 30.9 billion bytes only. The Sony 32GB Microvault USB Flash Drive , for example, shows up as 30.2GB on my computer.

The Data Traveler
Dear Kingston, I am sitting here at 1:11 am, listening to Space Oddity by David Bowie on repeat, and contemplating my life. Coincidentally I am also writing a review for the 32GB Data Traveler Micro Duo 3C, a product whose existence I am still unsure of even to this very moment. Now you will have to understand… I have never written an amazon review; not even once for all of my many purchases over the years. So please forgive me if it is not perfect. For you to truly understand, I will have to start from the beginning… I placed an order for a few items. Earbuds, carrying cases for various electronics, and a couple other items. One of those items being the Data traveler. My same day shipment arrived at 7:00 pm, just as I had gotten off of work; a very nice delivery man handed it to me from the trunk of his car. And then off I went to open my package. I opened everything else first, saving my Data Traveler for last. When it came time, I used my scissors to carefully cut off the top of the package and slide the tiny Data Traveler out into my hand. This had proved to be my first mistake, as I was still yet unaware of the Data Traveler’s “Traveling Capabilities.” Because as I turned this nice little piece of tech in my hands and began to unveil it’s USB C connector, it fell from my hands onto the floor and subsequently into what I can only assume is another dimension. In the hours following this, I would turn the room upside down looking for this little traveler. I searched in places it had no right being. In my desperation I even moved furniture. I found things that I thought I had gotten rid of years ago. Like a 3000 piece Lego Box, old clothes, and a CROSSBOW. But the traveler had somehow still eluded me. This is when the doubt set in… Because if it were not for the package still sitting on my desk, I would be hard pressed to prove it even existed at all. Hell, if you told me that I had not ordered it I might even believe you. The moment I held it in my hand was so fleeting, it was as if I had found a tiny star, but just the act of laying my eyes upon it caused it to blink from existence... Honestly, I am unsure of where to go from here… I fear that ordering another will just result in another traveler jumping the bounds of our reality. So instead, I think I will just thank you Kingston for creating such a wonderful piece of technology. It has truly changed me. Because for the rest of my life there will always be a part of me that wonders where it went and what corners of the universe that it has traveled to.
