Fenwick HMG Spinning Rod

7'6'light. Moderate action 2=8 lb line.Got it yesterday, took it trout fishing at Lewiston Lake today. It is a flowing body of water with very strong trout, tasty too. I was looking for a few for the table. Landed 4, lost 3, missed at least 6 more, in about 3 hours. Nice afternoon.I paired this up with a Piscifun Carbon X 3000. They look great together, black on black, and weigh next to nothing. 13.1 oz filled with .18mm braided main line. It is a whisper.This is my second HMG. I love the Alien handle, It is very comfortable both casting and fighting, as well as providing direct contact with the blank. It is very secure, with double lock downs.Anyway, this has the kind of power to handle a very nice fish, one weighed 3 lbs and I'd be comfortable with a much larger fish, yet handle the very light leaders needed in this crystal clear water, the length of the rod being a great shock absorber, at the same time as it being sensitive enough to feel the bottom and the bite when drifting a crawler or egg pattern in a riffle.I loved fishing with this rod.This won't be my last HMG and that really says what I want to say about it. It's a dandy.

I don't think there is a better rod in the market around $100. Aconite guide inserts in very small fuji guides. Casts like a dream. Lightweight rod with a very comfortable grip. I paired the 7' medium light rod with a Shimano Nasci 2500 spinning reel. It's an awesome combo.

This is a good rod. I like the action, the blank weight, and the guides. The handle is well constructed. I am not a fan of that particular reel seat, but it isn't going to let me down. I fish this rod about every other day in the Gulf of Mexico, with 20 lb braided line. It has had a work out, and passed with flying colors.

The rod came with bent guides. Also, the wrapping thread around guides was visibly damaged and paint on it chipped.

I have to say for the price point I don't think you will find a better rod, I have several well maybe to many rods and this one is better in every attribute, you will not beat the quality at this price point..... This rod I would even put up against more expensive rods.

Good feel, good sensitivity and using for the surf. Able to feel the small nibbles through all the wave action

I just assembled this tonight, bent the tip down about 6 inches and it snapped off. $100 wasted dollars. Don't buy!!

I have purchased 4 of these poles now. Fenwicks HMG70MH-FS HMG Spinning. I absolutely love them for bass fishing. I Prefer the medium heavy over the medium for better hook sets and throwing a jerk bait and also using senko's. This pole does everything I want and delivers the feel and sensitivity you need to detect every bite.
