More work than necessary.
Ok.. I've been using this a full week and yes, as others have mentioned there are some flaws:Cons:1. Size: Yes, this is pretty small. As the picture depicts, it can only handle 2 sandwiches or 3 pieces of chicken when I tried grilling chicken. Remember it is only 13.8 x 5.9 x 12.3 in. on the description but the actual cooking surface is 11" width x 7" height. So in my mind, it is compact.2. Tricky: depending on the angle of the top cover and slippery duraceramic surface, my sandwiches often times, shot out of the press. Luckily, I caught the sandwiches, realigned the top cover horizontally, pushed the sandwiches with a wooden spoon to prevent them from shooting out while pressing down the press. Yes... tricky maneuver.3. Uneven cooking temp: the upper and lower grills do maintain different temperatures. The top was consistently high/hotter while the lower grilled matched the temp dial. Leading me to flip whatever I was cooking to prevent burning. Was annoying.4. Clean up: Wasn't easy. The grills do NOT come off the unit. When cooled, I had to open the top so you have both grills facing up, then face the drip spouts into the sink, take a wet paper towel and wipe everything down or up towards the horizontal drip line and out towards the spout and into the sink. Ouch... that's a process.5. Cooking Splatter: Oil/ juices shot out from the sides and front onto the food. Had to wipe the floor and counter of the oil from grilled chicken splatter. Now I hang a kitchen towel over the front handle to minimize the splatter from the front of the unit. They should have designed a larger upper lid to prevent this. The positive is the duraceramic surface which no other unit has. I like it for the health reasons and that it lasts longer than the typical non-stick surface.Overall, I'm on the fence whether I return the unit or not. It's a lot of work. The duraceramic surface is the only thing going for it. I still have some grace period before I can return it.Update: Life is too short and appliances are supposed to make life easier, allowing us more time for other things so I ended up returning this one and ordering a George Foreman Grill based on others' reviews.

Most useful for one to two person household
This has a small footprint, so you can do maybe two burgers or two small chicken breasts or one small steak at a time if you use it closed, or double if you use it open but then of course it takes a bit longer to cook. Food cooks well. So far, it's been easy to scrape the dried meat/juices off of the grill plates but since the plates are not removable, cleaning them is a bit of a pain. I have been tilting it over the sink and washing with a microfiber cloth and some dish soap, taking care not to drip any water into the electrical part. I've used it about half a dozen times so far, and I don't see evidence of the coating coming off except for two or three tiny spots about the size of a pin head or less. Time will tell how much more will come off. I bought this specific model only due to the fact that I have a pet bird and Teflon is toxic to them. I wish more brands made products with the ceramic coating that are directly comparable to their Teflon coated counterparts.

Good, but...
I will start with the positives about this panini press. I am a big fan of Oster's products because they are among the few made with ceramic and not teflon, so they are non-toxic, and this panini press is no exception. It heats fast and cooks well. The not so hot features are that it is incredibly hard to clean and the plates are a light color so permanent staining started within the first month. After about two months the non-stick coating became not so non-stick anymore and my veggie burgers have to be pried from the top plate, which can't be done neatly. I feel like for how short the lifespan is on the non-stick coating and the staining issue that it is rather overpriced. I am now in the market for another one not plagued with quite so many issues, but is still ceramic.

Thin but effective coating
Only 4 stars because the ceramic coating is very very thin and clearly going to have a finite service life. There are many high and low spots in the ceramic coating, as well as other imperfections that will ultimately be the failure points of the coating. However, it is far more resistant to sticking than any teflon or teflon-like coating. I would like to see Oster or another brand offer a premium ceramic coated grill/press using the same technology, but without the cost saving measures like the thin coating, cheap housing, fixed plates, etc. I would be willing to pay double the price for a nicer version of the ceramic coated grill, but for now this will have to do, as it is a big improvement of PTFE/Teflon.

Good Panini
Smaller than I thought but works well. Ceramic is easy to clean as long as it's warm but it will still stain after months of use. Base is plastic but solid. It's light to pick up and move around. I wish it had an adjustable lid. Smaller sandwiches will get flattened if you don't place something in besides the sandwich in between the ceramic plates.

Ceramic plates at a an affordable price
I wanted a double sided grill with ceramic plates as my George Forman grill is old and uses Teflon. This was the only grill that I felt was reasonably priced. All the others I looked at with ceramic plates were over $100. No, the plates don’t come out and I am fine with that. Directions say to wipe with a damp cloth which takes me about 5 minutes. I scrape with the tool provided though which helps speed the cleaning process. I don’t bother using the drip cups unless I am grilling with a lot of oil. Really enjoying this product knowing it’s much healthier than Teflon!

Love it!
Bought this for the teachers lounge at the Jr high school i work at, all we have is a fridge, microwave and coffee maker but no stove. I like grilled cheese for lunch once a week, buying one for the lounge is easier than hauling mine when i want to use it. I like this model because it holds up to a lot of use. I bought one for the elementary school i worked at before the Jr high, it's on its 6th year and still working.

Loved it!
I loved this panini grill, yes it is small but that's exactly what I was looking for, a small appliance that could fit anywhere, it reaches the desired temperature really fast and it's super easy to clean, I'm happy with it

Pequeños detalles
Pues se veía genial pero apenas la abrimos notamos dos puntos negros en las parrillas. Estos eran desprendimientos de la cobertura blanca, lamentablemente la tuve que devolver. Estoy seguro que es de los pocos casos.

Cute but not practical
Tiny.. Single person use.In a family of 6 the last 2 people would still be hungry and waiting while the lucky first ones would be long done eating. The top is very heavy, forget about grilled cheese sandwiches because they will become waffles. This puppy is going back and am getting the 5in1 cousinart gridfle
