The cord that pugs into the main base to the phone jack is included, but that is the cord needed. I would overall warn against this phone system. I tolerated it for a month and threw it out. Just horrible!!

Can you record your own voice to cue messages on the answering service? How?

You can easily record your own announcement (aka Greeting). When the phone is idle, press MENU on the handset, press Volume Up or Down until you see >Answering sys; press MENU; you will see >Announcement; press MENU. Press 7; record your announcement after the beep. Press 5 when you are done.

Stuttering dial tone and flashing light to indicate voicemail message? Some newer phones don't have this.

Stutter Dial Tone, just like a normal dial tone, is sent by your provider. "NEW VOICEMAL" is displayed on the handset when you have new voicemail (which is independent of messages recorded on the CS6529 answering system).
