Pride and Prejudice (Penguin Classics) Paperback – December 31, 2002

It’s a classic for a reason! I’m sure it won’t be my last read-through. But this time I intend to follow it by finally watching the movie lol.

If you can get into the groove of the prose this book is seriously a delight. I’ve always loved this story but only ever knew it from the mini series and the movie. It was so fascinating to get so much more depth from these characters I thought I knew so well. I especially loved getting the little glimpses of povs that weren’t Elizabeth’s. Overall, I had a really fun time reading it and would recommend that every avid reader take a chance on the og enemies to lovers romance.

I don’t read a lot but I honestly loved this book! The characters are unique and the story was so interesting. Do keep in mind that this takes place during the regency period, so the language, and the way people communicated was different at the time. If you want to read this, take some time to read it privately, preferably out loud.

Elizabeth has a strength of character and ability to navigate The social world with confidence that is instructive and inspiring. Mr. Bennett is hilarious and clearly loves his daughters and steps up when needed. Lady Catherine is and imperious piece of work who likes to bully others... unfortunately a character we are all familiar with. The characters in this book and the gradual unfolding of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth’s relationship makes this book a pleasure to read. If I had to choose between this and Middlemarch, I would choose Middlemarch every time. However they are very different books so perhaps it’s not a fair comparison. Either way it was a book I definitely enjoyed reading and would recommend for those who love and grossing novels.

I had not read this book in over 20 years. I wanted to read it again and ordered this hard cover book. It is a pretty book with gold leaf, gold edging on the pages and a ribbon to mark your place.
