Impressive Graphics and outstanding performance
I was looking for a laptop replacement, (I had an ASUS ROG G75VW with more than 4 years of use) I am a graphic designer and I am about to start studying Concept Art, that's why I was looking for a light-weight yet powerful laptop that would be easy to carry and move around with it every day, I was deciding between the AERO 15X and the ASUS Zephyrus M GM501, they have very similar specs, but I finally decided to buy it because of it's color accurate screen and battery life. Most of time I work in photoshop with very heavy files, with my last laptop while the files were becoming bigger and bigger they tended to behave sluggish even more when applying filters or effects, so far with the AERO 15X I haven't had this kind of issues, it runs smoothly and fast, I still want to make more tests with it's performance and check out it's behavior mostly with After Effects, I have done.a couple of renders and they were very fast. I work with a Wacom Cintiq 27QHD as my main Screen, both screen look quite similar, with little perceptible differences. Touch input runs smoothly and I haven't had any issue with Wacom Pen since it was properly configured and calibrated. Well, I don't really care about that this laptop don't have G-Sync since my main purpose is for graphic design and digital painting and I am not a heavy player. I think Game performance is impressive, I love racing games and I have installed forza Horizon 3, Forza Motorsport 7 and and old version of Dirt 3. Forza games look impressive (mostly forza Mortorsport 7), so beautiful textures, shades, reflexions, particles and rain look pretty real, these games look so sharp and I can tell the difference between these on AERO 15X and XBOX ONE S, Even in the Cintiq QHD screen they run smoothly, I've seen on it a couple of glitches while playing, but I don't see it as a mayor issue, doesn't bother me. It gets so hot while playing, but you can solve it by putting it in on a taller stand to make more room to air to circulate and help the fans to dissipate heat. I would have been great to have at least 1TB of storage, Forza games consume at least 100GB, so it reduces a lot your available space for other games, programs and mostly work files. Overall I think it's the best decition I could have, it's a really great laptop and I hope to have more good impressions about it. I hope it could help you decide i little better.

a lot of problems
its a good pc on paper. when its working, it works well. well as in it out performs everything ive thrown at it from dark souls 2/3, fortnite, final fantasy 14, and 4k editing. it does these well, if it doesnt blue screen. ive had this pc for a few months, and it has blue screened every single day, sometimes every hour. people kept telling me itll be fixed soon with firmware, windows updates, drivers, etc. it has gotten worse over time. i have to reset my pc about once every hour if i want to be able to watch ANY kind of video, from youtube/netflix/hulu, it doesnt matter. itll work fine for 5 minutes, then the screen will freeze for about 5-10 seconds. you can still hear audio, but the picture freezes. then after about 5-10 seconds, it plays 'catch up' and youll see the 5-10 seconds of video you missed fly by the screen on something like 8x fast forward. this is CONSTANT, and happens within 5 minutes of a restart. the drivers are upt o date, ive tired different ones that were 'proven', tried full windows reinstall. nothing helps. after updating one day, my favorite feature is gone. there used to be a sldier bar for the battery, that you could literally slide from low which is low performance, high battery life, to high, which is high performance and low battery life. i updated smart update one day, and that feature has left the building. it is gone, and the pc is 100% of the time now on full performance while plugged in, and 100% battery saver when on battery. this is not okay, and it is not adjustable anymore. great. speaking of battery, it is abysmal. even on battery saving mode, youll get maximum 3 hours out of it watching youtube. the speakers are garbage, about as loud as your phone can get when NOT on speakerphone. you know how you can kind of hear someone talking on the phone next to you, if the speaker is loud? its like that, at its loudest. the biggest problem seems to be drivers and support for the pc. drivers will never be perfect, since parts inside these pc's are completely different. a buddy of mine bought this laptop, and it came with a kingston 512gb nvme ssd. mine came with a 'liteon' 512gb ssd, a totally different brand, make, and model. whatever drivers they use for the samsung, will not work with the liteon properly. this s only one part, who knows how many variants of this same pc there are. you cant adjust anything in the bios whatsoever. sometimes ill be gaming at 120 fps, and suddenly, im at 30 fps. there is no rhyme or reason to this, it seems to happen randomly. i do not even have anti virus, so its not running a scan. even if it was, youd think it could handle it without losing 75% of its power. speaking of power, the power button only works about 1/5 times. every morning, it can take anywhere from one press to 15+ presses to get it to turn on. when it does turn on, my external monitor is not discovered about half the time. so, i have to umplug my monitor and plug it back in. ten times/day i have to do this because also, it seems to happen randomly. ill be watching something, all of a sudden, my monitor shuts off and i see the laptop screen light up behind it. i keep the lid ajar while using an external monitor, because if i keep it fully closed, the cpu will reach temperatures well over 90C. according to gigbyte, this is normal. i dont care what you say gigabyte, this WILL destroy other parts in the pc AROUND the cpu that CANNOT handle the 90C(even if the cpu can, which i doubt). i could keep going, but long story short, this pc is a joke. i returned my macbook for it, and wish i kept the mac. dont waste your money. ill be back if anymore wonderful quirks appear.

I received this laptop over a week ago, and haven't had a single problem yet. I've never written a review on Amazon, but using this laptop had compelled me to! Pros: Powerful, has been able to handle any game I've attempted to play at ultra settings - Beautiful finish and very well built - keyboard is a little bit shifted to the left but, but feels good and snappy - 144hz screen is beautiful, and if you've only ever used a 60hz screen this laptop will blow you away - Colours are extremely accurate - SSD allows it to be pretty quick - Very refined and subtle design, can be used anywhere Cons: - As others have shared, the keyboard backlighting is pretty good, but the right shift key is much dimmer than the rest (Does't bother me in the least though) - Screen is a little dark for my liking, but I'm used to a Macbook so I'm not surprised at all. Still looks great whenever I do anything - Can sometimes double type (lliikkee), but that could be a result of me not being used to the feel of the keyboard - Gets loud and hot (peak 76C for GPU and 86C for CPU, never reached higher after 4+ hours of gaming, but wouldn't be surprised if it went higher as the laptop gets older) under load, but I use a gaming headset and it hasn't bothered me once. You can still hear the fan faintly while doing everyday tasks, but I'd rather a slightly louder fan than a hot computer - Due to the finish, fingerprints and the like are pretty noticeable, but nothing that looks horrible - Lastly, touchpad and the obvious webcame placement leave a bit to be desired. Seems like one could install windows precision drivers, but I haven't yet Overall, despite some of it's cons, I have so far loved every second with this machine and I would recommend this laptop to anyone who's looking for a subtle, but powerful laptop that gets the job done. (Budget permitting, of course)

As for the look, it looks way more beautiful than in pictures, and the build material doesn't feel cheap at all. Absolutely like it. It took me some time to update windows and all the drivers, but it's a one time process so I guess that's okay. I got one problem only after updating the sound driver and the bios (not sure which one caused the problem) but the headphone jack is now useless and does not recognise anything plugged in there, and device manager doesn't show any changes, tried to fix but weren't able to, but since it's a software problem it must be solvable. My previous machine got a GT220, so the GTX 1070 Max-Q blew me with its performance, though its power is reduced at least 30% when not plugged into the outlet and it doesn't seem to render more than 30 FPS on battery power, but when plugged in it gave me more than 2500 on unigine superposition benchmark and more than 90 FPS on cinebench. It's quite powerful but don't expect it to be like a normal 1070, but definitely better than a 1060. The CPU reached 4 GHz on performance mode even on battery, around 1 GHz on balanced mode and around 0.8 GHz on power saving. As for thermals, it's quite cool on idle and on light stuff like browsing, but when stressed to 100% on CPU and GPU it reached 70C, the fans get really loud on high temps but otherwise, it can be almost silent. There is a keyboard shortcut to set the fans to maximum in one click. The screen is just perfect for me, I am no designer so I'm not the best to judge the colour accuracy, but that's one of the best laptop screens I saw. I have the FHD version. The keyboard is really good and the different RGB modes give very nice aesthetics. But sometimes it needs to be pressed a little harder to register the click, it's not a big deal as you can easily get used to it. The trackpad is average, sometimes it stutters when I start swiping on the lower side, but that could be fixed with software or bios updates I hope. Overall I like it and would recommend it, though for the price, I believe Gigabyte can avoid those tiny problems to make the experience really unique.

I purchased this unit from Amazon Warehouse and the drivers from Gigabyte and support is absolutely brutal. The entire system would freeze if I opened Task Manager. I also found all of the Gigabyte software VERY clunky and difficult to use. The specs of this machine are solid but the software from Gigabyte is a deal beaker.

This Gigabyte Aero 15X V8 was hands down one of the most specced out gaming laptops available today. It makes you gasp a "wow" when you first unbox it and another "wow" when you feel its aluminum chassis and yet another "wow" when you experience just how thin and light this is. It feels substantially thinner than my Razer Blade 14! The specifications? Whew! The list goes on and on! UHS II compatible sd card slot reader, GTX 1070, 144hz monitor, 95%+ SRGB XRite Pantone color calibration, tactile keyboard which I enjoyed typing on, and the new i7 8750H hexacore cpu that just destroys premiere pro timelines. Well, all on paper its good. Unfortunately the fun stops when you hit that power button. My first boot experience was the worst experience I have ever sat through. Windows UI, chrome and other elements lagged and often would become very sluggish. It wouldnt even let me uninstall stock windows 10 games pre installed. The gigabyte smart manager felt super clumsy and always seemed to clash with windows 10 (double volume icon and brigtness when adjusting) and it looks like a year 2000 design with an ugly blue (you can install a metro theme which is user created). I had to ultimately do a clean install which fixed (seemingly) some of the issues. Unfortunately, the laptop needed ALOT of tweaking and driver installations. The system and drivers gigabyte uses do not play well with windows and with such power specs performance was not reliable. Some hours it runs OK with a bit of UI lag (which you see NONE of on the old Razer blade 14 2015). Then the next several hours you cant do much. Games run at sluggish average 30fps on low settings and chrome ALWAYS lags, stutters, and is plain annoying. Right clicking icons and taskbar makes you wait a few seconds when it should be instant. In the end I had to return this as I need a reliable work machine that cant have issues with performance on all windows 10 versions (1703,1709,1803). 1709 seemed to be the least buggiest. I have spent two days following all advice on online forums but found that it only helps a bit but the underlying problem still persists. This is the issue: if one pays a whopping $3400 CAD (after tax) on a laptop what is the expectation? It MUST work out of the box straight away with little to no troubleshooting. Competitor gaming laptops had ZERO problems in all the categories Ive mentioned above straight out of the box. The sheer amount of stress, finger biting anxiety, and tiredness this Gigabyte Aero 15x V8 gives you is not worth its asking price. My time with this Gigabyte system has shed a bad light on Gigabytes name and they have lost my trust greatly.

This computer is so aesthetic. It packs a powerful performance in such a slim design, the fans are quite noisy sometimes even when not gaming or hardcore usage, but that is understandable in a computer so thin yet powerful. It's keyboard is difficult to get used to. Specially if you're used to typing in big keyboards, but in a few days you'll definitely get used to it. The screen is just perfect, really. Pantone Certified Display with 144Hz is just a beast and one of it's kind. You don't even need G-Sync when playing at those frame rates, it drains battery and it's not necessary. And speaking of battery, the biggest of the gaming laptops: 94Wh battery that lasts for at least 6 to 7 hours with normal use. With gaming it lasted for over 1 hour 30 minutes which is decent. Overall I'm very happy with this laptop, definitely would purchase it again. Recommended for picky gamers and overall productivity.
