GE Lighting LED+ Backup Battery Light Bulb, Rechargeable, Soft White, Medium Base (1 Pack)

I bought this product as a prep for power outages. Once charged for 10 hours, this bulb does operate like a normal light bulb, but I found that it only works in lamps and not hard-wired light fixtures. If I tried to use them in chandeliers, the bulb will stay on even when the light fixture is turned off. You can still use the bulbs in an easily accessible chandelier or other hard-wired light fixture during a power outage by swapping out your normal bulb for this bulb. During a power outage, note that you will have to switch this bulb on and off by the button that IS ON THE LIGHT and not by your wall on/off switch. Because of that, I do NOT recommend using the bulb in lights that are not easily accessible. The lights from the bulbs when using them in battery mode is dimmer than when they are in a light that is plugged into an outlet. If you keep your expectations within reason, this is a great product!

Excellent product! Good light in normal use and is nice and bright when on battery. Our electricity goes out a lot in the winter and since we are out in the sticks it takes a long time to get power back on. I saw this on a YouTube post and had to order it immediately. I only ordered one so I could make sure it worked for me and it does! I tried it by just unplugging the lamp and that didn't work so I turned off the electricity to the house and it worked great. Here's hoping I never need it!

This product only works in single pole situations. A lamp, or a pendant light. It does not turn off when installed in a ceiling fan, or any situation where several lights are on a single switch or circuit. To test the bulb, use a basic lamp, no dimmer. Insert bulb, and turn on and off. Then unplug the lamp from the wall and short the plug. This simulates power outage (turning the breaker off creates an open and this needs ground) and the light should turn on. I included a photo of bedside lamp unplugged with light on. When lamp is plugged into wall it works like normal. When I remove the driver I used to short the plug, it also turns off. Update Dec 2022:. It can work in ceiling fan as long as all the bulbs are this style with battery. Flip light switch off and bulbs switch to battery(dim light)....pull chain and they actually turn off.

I bought these as an "improvement" on the emergency bulb I'm using now in two outdoor lamps that I cannot plug into an outlet. The first bulbs I used are also emergency bulbs (VAST improvement over the puck light jury rig you see in Pinterest), BUT you need to keep the cord to the lamp intact so you can put a plastic "plug" over the cord electric prongs so you can us the on/off switch on the lamp to actually turn the lamp on/off. It means keeping a perfectly useless cord attached to a lamp that won't ever be plugged into an outlet. THEN I saw THESE. The on/off switch is on the bulb so you don't have to keep the power cord on a lamp - AWESOME! You charge by using the bulb in a lamp that is plugged into the wall on "on" - it will recharge in about 4-5 hours. To keep in mind. 1. they are VERY warm light, a bit more then I expected, but okay for my use (if you were using them truly as emergency/regular use bulbs you might want something brighter. 2. If you use them like I am you have to charge them in another plugged in lamp which means swapping out bulbs when you need to recharge. Again, not a deal breaker for me. THAT SAID, I just found on Amazon and ordered another brand of emergency bulbs that are USB rechargeable AND are remote controlled. We'll see how they work out. BUT these bulbs are perfectly good for their intended use - everyday AND emergency bulbs.

I read several reviews that said the light didn't work, or wouldn't turn off. I found it works just fine. I have it in a 2 bulb lamp, the other bulb is a normal bulb. we let it charge for the 10 + hours as recommended . If we turn the switch off, the bulbs goes out like a normal lightbulb . When our power went out the other night, the bulb came on. It is not as bright as if the power was on , but it was enough light so that I was comfortable and not feeling like I was sitting in the dark. It is supposed to give light for 5 hours though I was only needing it for 3 hours. The one thing I have noticed is that when the light is turned off, there is a lag time for the bulb to turn off, but less than a minute. Perhaps others have a lag time and therefore gave up and assumed it would not turn off. I'm pleased with it and if I want meow, I would buy this bulb again.

Purchased this item specifically for night time use during a power outage. Soon after purchasing we happened to have an outage in my area and this was a lot more convenient and effective to use than a flashlight, headlight or candle. There are high and low settings and it can easily be carried around moving from room to room. It can also be inserted into a lamp to illuminate a room. Easy to charge and maintains charge. Lightbulb size and in small box so easy to store. I would definitely consider as a gift for emergency use during an outage and also for those that camp.

I bought this for my apartment closet - it had the light fixture, but the electricity was disconnected to the closet before I moved in. I've just been struggling with a dark closet for the last bit! Such a great solution and I love how it's rechargeable. The light is bright but not overpowering and white like a lot of LED lights are.

This is a great bulb with available accesories to purchase but remember, this is just a rechargable flashlight. When you smartphone flashlight isn't enought. What i like about these bulbs is that you put them in lamps when the power is out so it's like the power isn't out. I two bought for myself & two for parents. I leave in the lamps that I use on a daily basis so they will stay charged. They are said to have a 5 hour charge after charging them for 10 hours. I think they are good value for money.

Creo que esto deberia ser un must para cualquier casa, ojala fueran mas baratos para que mas gente pudiera comprarlos, pero basicamente hacen que tus focos sigan dando luz aunque tengas un corte de electricidad. Lo unico que tienes que ser consciente es que cuando funcionan en modo batería iluminan menos, justo para ahorrar y extender la duración de la luz.
