i'm running at 12v and get a load of torque and only drawing .4A. very nice, i just wish they had ones with different gearing, its a bit too slow for my ap but i don't want to switch to 24v

I mainly bought these motors for their planetary gearbox, and was not disappointed. The gearbox is very smooth, doesn't have much of a backlash, and is seemingly capable of delivering much more torque than the motors it ships with can provide. By default it has three identical mechanical stages sandwiched inside a common cylindrical metal casing with inner teeth, each stage having about 1:4.5 reduction ratio. The gears of the first stage are made of brass/nylon, the other two are all-steel. The output shaft is supported by a ball bearing. If you have a lathe or a CNC machine, it is relatively easy to cut off a portion of the casing so that the gearbox can be reassembled with only one or two stages present, thus giving you the option of trading torque for speed according to your application.The motors themselves draw only about 70 mA at idle, have a protruding 2mm shaft in the back so that an encoder wheel can be installed. The cogging in is not very pronounced so the stall torque is also okay. My biggest complaint is that they're too weak for their size, even at 24 volts. I will be looking to replace them with more powerful ones with neodymium magnets.Overall the package is solid, especially for the price, I just wish the motors were better.

The motors are of great construction & have some good torque. With and without the gearbox!

This is a great deal for a set of planetary gear motors. The one thing to note is the somewhat unusual shaft feature, which is a drilled hole instead of a D shaped flat.

I really like these little motors, they work well and you can't beat the price. Very good for learning. My only gripe is that it would be helpful if they came with a screw for the shaft to attach a gear, as well as screws for the end of it to secure it to whatever you are attaching it to. Tiny little screws like that are not the easiest to find. Other than that I would buy them again.

It is tiny/compact and powerful geared motor for small applications. I wish they had 12v version also. I brought two sets.
