I used this to light up a display in my Trunk-or-Treat area. I taped it under a small table, and attached a USB battery to it. It ran for 3 hours on that, and lit up my display decently. The battery I used was large, and it used up 80% of its charge in those 3 hours. Note - the directions do NOT recommend using a battery, but a power cord to the wall power... but I'm a rebel. It worked well for me.It has 2 settings, a low and a high. The low is pretty low. I had to use the high. In a small room, it worked great. When I was outdoors at our event, I had to have it pretty close to my display (~2m) or else the white light surrounding me would drown it out. This is not very bright, not very powerful. If you need powerful stuff, go get something large. But for small displays, I couldn't have asked for a better solution.

Not as bright as I hoped, but it was the right size and worked for my purpose, at a decent price point.

This little light is great for what it is. I use it powered off an ONN rechargeable battery pack and it makes the mono fishing line glow just as I was hoping for. Will buy more.

I've returned the unit I received. I have four true UV blacklights for displays. I needed something smaller and portable so I tried this. It simply doesn't put out UV or very little true UV to be useful.It outputs a nice violet/purple light and apparently little to no UV which can be confused with true UV blacklights. It does light up white and orange surfaces but it doesn't create a true fluorescence effect. True UV blacklights create a mechanism in which UV radiation excites chemicals in an object and causes them to release visible light. This mechanism creates the common glow or neon effect we associate with UV blacklights at parties and concerts.This light simply doesn't emit the enough of the UV spectrum to be useful in any but the most limited situations.

Broke as soon as I opened it. Used my fire stick adapter to see how bright it was. Works great. Price was good. Needs to ship with a better wall plug.UPDATE. After glueing the power supply back together it worked for 2 days. Then power supply went out already! UPDATE 2-26. Aplstar customer service contacted me and took care of my issue. I understand having a defective is a pain. Customer service is great. Hope this helps!

Bought two of these for Christmas Present Projects and MAN they are AWESOME!!! they have two settings and they dont give off too much 'purple' light. Other flourescent blacklights do a good job overall, but are bulky, hot, and expensive, these little guys did a BETTER job lighting up and entire room by themselves on high setting and lighting up a small painting alone without blacklighting the entire room on LOW setting! WILL be buying again.

Used for Halloween decoration, worked well being powered by usb battery pack.

Not the greatest black light ever.
