I Am a Bunny (A Golden Sturdy Book)

If you know someone named Nicholas having a kid, buy them this book. If they have another name, still buy this book.It’s a heirloom book to me. I’ll keep it for my grandkids because all of my kids love this book.The storyline is simplistic and appreciating the beauty of the natural world around you. It’s a short and easy read - great for birth and up. The illustrations are beautiful.

I bought this book for my 4yo grandson who is obsessed with bunnies. I discovered the story is a bit too simple for him, but it would be great for a younger child who struggles to sit through a whole book. Darling illustrations of the bunny through the 4 seasons.

I cannot say enough about this book, from the theme, picture quality, and price. It is great all around. This book is giftable. I have purchased it for a baby shower, birthday, bunny lover, and myself. Every person I have given it to raves about this adorable book. It is versatile for many different ages and interests. It is a great one to add to the collection.

I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!This was my favorite as a wee lad of 2 or 3 years old and holds a special place in my heart to this day. It's just beautiful in every way. I pestered my mother to read it to me over and over and over and over again. One day, after reading it through half a dozen times or more, when I asked her to start again, she said she was getting tired of reading it. Her not wanting to read my favorite book to me anymore really hurt my feelings, but I didn't show it. I told her I would read it myself then. "Oh, yeah?" she chuckled, thinking I wasn't old enough to read yet. "Okay. Here, you do it." She gave me the book. The pressure was on. I nervously turned the first page. "I am a Bunny. My name is Nicholas. I live in a hollow tree." So far, so good. A few pages later, she was stunned. I was actually reading it! But the pressure to prove that I didn't need her to read my favorite book was getting to me. I cracked and mixed up two of the pages. The bluff was exposed. I didn't actually know how to read, I had memorized it.I gave this book to my brother for his daughter, my niece. Then I didn't hear from him for awhile. I called him up. "Hey, how does Alyssa like that I Am A Bunny book?" Exasperated he said, "Ugh! That's all she wants to read. That's it. Nothing else. I say hey, how about we read this one? Nope. She wants the Bunny book. Non-stop." I laughed. And laughed. And laughed. These days, I give this book to everyone else with small children. For some reason, "everyone else" now hates me.As has been mentioned in other reviews, I wish this wasn't printed in China. Earlier printings of this book are better quality and have better color, but for $5 you're still getting your money's worth.

I will admit, i almost did not buy this book. I remember seeing it as a kid (at daycare??) and was always creeped out because the colors on the cover were so dark they appeared sinister. (Had I known it was illustrated by one of my favorites i might have opened it). So I never looked beyond the cover. But as a mom, I am always on the hunt for educational books that are also lovely with beautiful stories and art. This got good reviews and I figured if I was still creeped out i would just donate the book. Glad I bought it. The cover remains creepy (to me), for some reason the colors are darker on the cover than inside the book. The illustrations inside are beautiful and the story serene. Summer is my least favorite because it is so hot here, and fall is the best with the beautiful colors. Therefore I was somewhat disappointed that in this book summer is given much more attention than autumn or spring (my close second favorite). However, i guess that is somewhat fitting since summer weather here lasts June-midOctober (sigh, it's just after labor day and the forecast says 103 for Thursday). Even if you have other books on seasons, buy this one. I also like that it's a board book so my LO can look at it all she wants.

The books by Richard Scarry are adorable! He is my favorite illustrator of children's books. He also writes great stories children can appreciate. I first became aware of him when my brother started bringing Scarry's books home from the school library. I would help him read them and couldn't get over the cute, adorable pictures of animals in human clothing. We both enjoyed them. He was 5 and I was 8. I encouraged him to see if the library had other Richard Scarry books. He brought many home over the time he was 5-6 years old. They always had a lot of illustration, sometimes with few words, yet he effectively covered topics, such as jobs, emergency personnel and places, situations in communication, physical movement, and more. It has been a long time, but I can recall snippets of the books. The text and illustrations were quite humorous, appropriate for children to grasp and enjoy.

Forty years ago this was my daughters favorite book. We read it to her so many times that she memorized it. "I chase the butterflies, and the butterflies chase me..." I guess I memorized it too.I buy a copy for every new born that I need a gift for.Teach your kids to read, and to enjoy reading. That investment pay off a thousand fold.Six Stars

Such a great kids book. I am very picky about kids books and I'm always looking for ones with great illustrations that weren't digitally created. That usually means it's going to be an old book. But this one fits the bill. My son likes to look at the pictures for a long time, just like I do. Get it. Would make a great gift.

Both my 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son LOVE this book! The illustrations aren’t overdone and overwhelming like some books. but perfectly vibrant and attractive. The story line is also super cute. One of our favourites

What a beautiful book.. Great illustrations and just enough words.. I add my own stories while reading.. toddlers can learn about the seasons too.

è un bellissimo libro per bambini con illustrazioni meravigliose, fanno sognare. è tutto cartonato e quindi robusto anche per manine piccole. la storia è molto semplice, qualche riga per pagina ma carina, direi perfetta per avvicinare il bimbo alla lingua inglese, il mio è stato contentissimo di riceverlo ed ha voluto portarlo subito all'asilo per farlo vedere a maestre ed amici. lo consiglio davvero. ne comprero' sicuramente altri.
