Just Mom and Me (American Girl Library) Spiral-bound – March 1, 2008

So I thought I did enough reading of reviews to take a chance on this. I originally came to buy more of a journaling book but saw this has a lot of great reviews. I somehow got the impression that there was a good balance of journal pages to activities but there are not as many as I was expecting.NOT saying that it's a bad thing, just depends on what you're wanting/expecting.When I first opened it I thought "I could of found stuff like this on Pinterest" but my daughter said "OH MY GOSH, I LOVE IT!" then sat down and looked through it. So maybe I could have found similar stuff on Pinterest but in the end it makes it more special for girls to have a special, cute book to hold and work on. And honestly, the price is good so we can always get more of a journal, as well.One other thing I don't really like is the tear-outs rip and mess up easily-even when being careful. (Maybe just our book?)Overall I'm ok with the product since it's a good price and most importantly because my daughter loves it and spending the time together :)

I purchased this book for my daughter and her daughter so that they could spend some quality time together. Mom is a busy nursing student and daughter is 8 years old. I looked through every page when I got it from Amazon and it is wonderful! Many ways for daughters and mothers to share and get to know each other better. Several opportunities for mom to teach daughter important lessons too but not in a heavy lecture way. I love it! I am jealous because I want to do it with them. I wish I had had something like this for myself and my daughters when I was a nursing student and they were pre-teens. Now it is up to them to enjoy it and to make the most of it and I know they will. Worth every penny! Illustrations cute and colorful but not babyish. I highly recommend this for moms and daughters especially at that age when they start to challenge you( about 10 years old) and you wonder where did my sweet little girl go? It will open up the line of communication and smooth then out and help you both get through that stage easier I think. don't wait get it for Christmas! I cant think of a better gift for my daughter. I know they will love it!!

I purchased this book for my 9 year old daughter as a birthday gift. When looking at options of books similar to this, I was sure to read a few reviews on each book, and this was the winner. I am so glad I chose this one! I had high expectations being that it was from American Girl, but they definitely exceeded them! I love that the book has so many ways to engage mother and daughter! We really enjoyed going through the list of "favorite" items, it was interesting to hear some of my daughter's answers, but even more fun to hear her guess mine! If your daughter is anything like mine, she will definitely appreciate taking the time to go through these ideas and activities with you and learning some new facts about mom! To be honest, our days are so busy, it’s easy to push off this time, so I actually appreciate it when she pulls this book out and asks to do an activity with me. Definitely a good purchase and I would highly recommend this! I have a 5 year old daughter and I will very likely repurchase the same book when she gets a bit older so we can experience the same thing together!

What a cute family book for a young girl. Great gift idea or for a Sunday read

My 7 year old daughter was really excited when I surprised her with this 'Just Mom and Me' book. She immediately flipped through it, choosing which activities we'd do first. I like that things are simple and don't require a lot of planning or additional 'props'. We did the 'fun jar' - a page of fun activities are included - you tear them out and put them in a jar, choosing one at random. We each picked and got 'play hopscotch' and 'jump rope'. Both easy, fun outside activities, and my daughter was excited that they were just for me and her! The quizzes are cute too, a nice way to learn more about each other. We found out we have a lot of the same favorites, but where we differed was the most interesting to learn!For a busy, working mom this is a great way to spend quality time and stay connected with your little one. With a new baby in the house, it's an especially nice way to give big sis some special time that's all hers!

I purchased this book for my daughters birthday and it’s USED. Missing multiple pages and a note with writing on it. So disappointed and will be returning it.

American Girl books are always fun and well-written, especially for 7-12/13 year old girls, and this book is no exception. It has lots of fun 'hands-on' activities and sugestions of activities for girls+moms to do together. It also has fun quizzes and open ended questions, designed to encourage conversation. A great way to reconnect/connect with your rapidly changing daughter (mine is 9...we are entering a new world, for sure!!). It will be a fun 'memory book' to look back upon someday, as a snapshot of us during this time.It would be excellent for girls and moms who are separated because of divorce/deployment...you could get 2 books and each complete the same page apart, then review them on Skype/phone, even mail. Would be excellent for connecting with your daughter, and opening up deeper conversations that would be difficult, otherwise.I'm really glad that I bought both the 'Just Mom and Me' and 'Just Dad and Me' books, they are certainly worth the time you get o spend with your daughter, that might not happen otherwise.

This is a fantastic item. My daughter is 8 and unlike many books of this type you don't need to hunt around the house for bits and pieces to enable you to do the activities. Lots of them tend to be about just sitting together and sharing memories and hopes and dreams for the future.

Both my 8 year old Daughter and I love this book. Making us realise how well we know eachother in some ways and learning new things too. Great that it gets you talking to eachother about things you would normally think to. Great fun. Love it
