Sign Language My First 100 Words
This is a wonderful book to get young children and even adults to learn to start signing. The bright colors and the short instructions are easy to read and also easy for a non-reader to get the hang of how to sign. My grand daughter enjoys this book very much. I enjoy watching her sit in the morning after breakfast, and all on her own, to look through the book and copy the signs. The pictures on the page make it easy for the child to understand the sign. We then sit and sign and point to the pictures of the ones that she is really interested in learning for that morning.Great book to start with even for the younger child. My First 100 Words (Sign Language)

Works Best with Videos
My brother and I love this book! He’s autistic and it’s hard for him to speak. When I showed him this book, he became very eager to learn. I love that it came with a poster, I love how simple and easy it is to read. The index, table of contents and the content is great! Very good first book for learning sign language. This book works best if you watch videos while trying to sign what’s in the book.

A great resource for kids!
My husband and I are currently teaching our baby, "Baby Sign Language". These signs are ASL and help us learn sign as well.As an elementary teacher, I use sign language in the classroom all the time. This is also a fantastic resource for kids, similar to a "Sign Dictionary" that they feel confident in flipping through. Each page is full of tiny images to look through as kids learn the various signs for a wide variety of vocabulary. It is a bit "Where's Waldo" reminiscent as students flip through page after page looking at the people acting out different signs, the kids try to practice these signs with their hands and body. I would recommend this as a learning tool for any parent or teacher.

TEACHING OUR YOUTH
Although none of us have young children, a small group of us bought these books for the youth at our Church so they can begin to learn sign language. We have over the years taught them songs to sign and they love it. It was awesome to see them go through the book, get excited about the poster and a couple of them learned to spell their names in sign language. It melted my heart.

More of a reference guide for sign. No story line.
I use to be a licensed sign language interpreter. My kids' friends keep asking me how to sign things and I am happy to tell them. So it was "secret reader day" at my son's kindergarten class and thought I would bring in a book where they could learn sign language. As I researched kid books with ASL, none of the reviews or descriptions really stated if they provided a story vs a reference guide. I bought this one and a few others and found that all the ones I purchased including this one provide a reference. If you are looking for a storybook with signs, this isn't for you. The references are good. Some may be hard to understand if you do not know sign language. My son will try the signs and then ask me if he is doing it correctly. It is educational but I was hoping for a bit of a storyline with it. Even a few words on each page. The best part about the book is that it provides a poster size alphabet reference guide.I am purchasing a few of these for Christmas gifts for my son's friends.

Great Book!
Book is colorful and easy to understand with pictures, words, and arrow diagrams to aid in forming correct signs. Includes a short introduction to ASL very helpful for 1st timers. The layout is a two page spread for each category with side panals on each page showing the signs. Content is broken down into small chunks. For example the "Feelings" spread has a picture of children in a classroom involved in various activities with a variety of expressions. Each child is labeled with the "feeling" and the signs are shown along the side panels (4 signs in each panel; 8 per category).

Wish I would’ve gotten this book first!!
I got this book for my two-year-old I like how he gives a little bit more instruction on how to do the signs than just the picture of the hands and then Has a picture with the word next to it this helps out a lot to show her what I’m trying to say in sign language!!
