A Delicious Read
I have so many Books it borders ridiculous. I bought this some time back and got done with it awhile back. This was a Really Good Book, though a bit into the middle of the Story I wanted to rip it in half and sail it across the room, (now you got to understand, "I Love Books" and dont like to see them damaged) it was very emotional at that point and I was really angry with Mr. Cameron with the way the Story line was turning out, so I put the book up, fuming. But it turned out alright. This Story is very emotional at times but was well worth every bit of the cost which is very reasonable. For the couple comments I seen of Ppl putting this Book down they should be ashamed of themselves as was a Beautiful Story of Endurance and Love. I do understand not all Ppl like the same kind of Book's that other's do so you just need to make that choice yourself. Myself, I cant gush enough about Mr. Cameron's Book, in fact I just finished a different Book and since I had this Book of Cameron's still laying out I reread the last chapter, but wasn't quite what you would call a chapter, you'll see if you read it. I keep Book's that I've read if I really liked them and reread them. I have a pretty good Library, as I call it and this book will go into the Animal section and I will read it again someday. This is a Wonderful Story of a Young Man who at first is alarmed by his situation but gives the Dog's the most Loving Care. Like alot of Ppl comment on Animal Story's, If You Love Dog's don't pass this Book up. If I could I would give it a 10 Star Rating.

... and Noble and knew automatically I was going to love it. The cover had me hooked
I found this book while browsing Barnes and Noble and knew automatically I was going to love it. The cover had me hooked. The minute I bought it I could not put it down. This is a heartwarming tale of love, family, and of course puppies. After Josh Michaels loses his Ex to another man and lays around depressed, he gets a call from a "friend" who wants to drop his dog off. Though reluctant, Josh accepts the dog and begins to worry about her pregnancy. During a conference call, his new dog, Lucy, goes into labor and he rushes her off to the vet, worried about her and her puppies. After the visit to the vet and receiving a litter of 5 puppies, Josh begins to rebuild his life, now revolving around the 6 dogs he has. After a call to the local animal shelter, he meets, and falls in love with Kerri, the woman who runs the animal shelter. She is eager to give these new puppies a forever home and bring joy to other families. But as time gets closer for Josh to give up the puppies, he thinks of his own family and is struck with the feeling of not being able to give up his new dogs.I particularly love the sentiment in this book. While at first Josh was reluctant to foster Lucy and then the puppies when she gave birth, after spending some time with them, he grew to love them and though he lost his own family, he gained a whole new canine one. Though Josh is a bit of a recluse and hard to like, I love his connection to the dogs and how he feels he can't send them off to other families. Though it felt like most of this book revolved around his pursuit of Kerri, it lent itself to the story because it gave Josh an inner conflict: does he choose to push her away and keep the dogs, or win her heart and do as she wants? That small romantic twist added suspense to the book because while Josh wanted to be with her, he wanted to have his dogs, which made him whole again. There are a host of small themes throughout the book, which I love how each of them interconnect. I will definitely recommend this book to all dog lovers, puppy lovers, holiday enthusiasts, and any one who just loves a good heartwarming book.

Not worth it
I'm surprised this book is getting as high of ratings as it is. I've read about 1/3 of the book and I probably won't read the rest. It's very poorly written. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking the only reason it was published was because Cameron published other books that were well received. His "A Dog's Purpose" was excellent. This book is not. Here's the premise: A man who's never had a dog receives a dog that's pregnant. He calls the vet because he figures the vet will deliver the puppies. This is understandable, as is the vet's explanation to him that the vet won't deliver the puppies. Then, a couple days later, the dog's whining and fussing and the man totally panics. Even this is plausible, although I would venture to say he would probably not hang up in the middle of a meeting to rush her out the door and to the vet without explaining to anyone what happened. But the dog's harsh delivery of stillborn pups because her terrible previous owner gave her a worthless dog food (even though the guy never mentions what kind it is) is ludicrous. As is the sudden appearance of a box of pups being left in his truck. Newborn pups, mind you, in freezing cold weather, that somehow all survive until he discovers they're in his truck. The call to the local pet rescue results in a woman appearing at his house the very next day, even though she told him the roads were impassable. She gives him very bossy instructions about a special box he needs to build, if he's capable, while examining all the photos on his mantel. Of course, this takes place right after his boss fires him - not for hanging up in a meeting and not contacting anyone for a few days, but for making the boss look bad by sending an email. This doesn't phase him, though. He accepts it as normal practice. He's only a contractor, after all. He goes to the pet rescue the next day and the nosy pet rescue person goes to lunch with him and bawls him out for making a shrine for his ex girlfriend while admitting she spied at his medicine cabinets because she tends to choose men who are druggies and she wants to make sure he isn't one - even though she never went beyond the one room in his house. We also find out that at some unknown point he called the vet and the vet was not at all surprised that someone left newborn pups in his truck and his dog immediately adopted them. The whole premise is just utterly ridiculous. It's quite possible this book gets better. I kept assuming it would. As I said, I loved the other book of Cameron's that I read. I feel, though, that by the time I'm a third of the way through a book, I've given it plenty of time to get better.

Great read
I have to say I’ve read many books about dogs but the way this was written in the feeling that was put into it touched my heart more than any of the other books I have read. I will certainly look into the other books by this author.

although I found the story good being repeated in a book with a different title ...
I have only given this book 2 stars as it was the same story as in "A Dog for Christmas" by W. Bruce Cameron, although I found the story good being repeated in a book with a different title was disappointing.

W. Bruce Cameron has once again delivered
I love this book! Dog lovers will love it, but so will the romantics at heart. Even if like me, you are into crime thrillers, this book is a refreshing change. A doggy/human relationship, well, there's really nothing better. Mr Cameron has a dog's heart and I really don't mean that to be a derogatory opinion! :-)

Heartwarming
This story is a little different from "A Dog's Purpose" or "A Dog's Journey" in that it tells the story of one dog (and her litter of pups) rather than several lives. But it is a great love story about someone who is not a "dog person" learning why they make such great companions and falling in love. Great read for tweens and teens up to adults.
