Great book
It's very topical. The language is simple. Historical references are poignant. Should be read by everyone interested in the future of the country and the world. The signs of fascist attack on democracy is everywhere, and it's winning in most countries, whether advanced or developing. This book enables you to understand the causes of why things are happening as they are. A must read. The only thing-- I wish Timothy Snider could expand certain ideas a bit more; it's too brief on occasions.

Short, succinct and very timely
Short, succinct and very timely. Its rare to see a "how to" book on avoiding tyranny but Dr. Snyder makes it an engaging read.Very relevant for our times.I also like the examples he uses to put things in context. Anyone who is concerned about the state of democracy in not just our country, but generally around the world should read it.

Urgent and revealing
Simply written with lots of depth and real understanding of history. Gives us the right tools for these heady times.

Should be part of curriculums world-wide.
The only reason I took off a star is that it is, in a couple of places - in my opinion at least - a little too kind to the Obama/Hillary Democratic Party (in an almost hypocritical way). That said, the amount of distilled wisdom in this book is just staggering and is something - again, in my opinion - EVERYONE should read. It doesn't matter what your age/political leanings/*insert point of difference here* is - the ideas in this book go a long way to refining and/or adding to a person's idea of themselves as a part of society/political systems, over and above their individual identities, and perceptions of responsibility in society/politics.

How ordinary people may defend democratic rights against a tyrannical regime.
I liked the powerful message, authentically told. A practical guide for ours and all times.

I love this book so much that I have gifted this to several people. I am re-reading it and re-read it every year. The wisdom is just too strong.

A must read in this age and time. Very short read and communicates effectively.I say this must be taught in schools and colleges for extra marks.

Fluid, trenchant, unsettling
Maybe because Snyder modelled his narratives on the current hideous tyrant in his house or maybe because of a clear and lucid student of history. Whatever it be this book nails the social, economic and historical discourses around Tyranny. It is a quick, albeit not masterful read on tyranny.
