Essential Tool for a Smooth Cut!
The Oregon Precision Mower Blade Balancer is an absolutely essential tool for anyone who sharpens their own mower blades. I was skeptical that a simple device could make such a difference, but I am now a total convert. After sharpening my blades, I used this balancer, and it was perfect for balancing my blades! It quickly and clearly showed me exactly where the heavy spots were, allowing me to take off just the right amount of metal until the blade was perfectly level. The difference in the quality of the cut and the overall feel of the mower is night and day. There is far less vibration when cutting, leading to a much smoother operation and a cleaner look on the lawn. It is extremely well-made, easy to use, and accurate. If you maintain your own blades, stop guessing and get this tool. It's a small investment that yields professional results.

Simple tool works fine.
Simple and easy to use. I think balanced blades have far less vibration on my 3 blade mower deck. Probably extending the life of the spindles too.

It works OK with my blade
I purchased this balancer to replace my cheap plastic one because I am always afraid that the plastic one will break just when I need it. The Oregon balancer appears to be solidly made out of pot metal. I did not get a damaged one as others have said. The center post on mine is straight up and down. The cone balances on it just fine, and there is no sign of interference between the cone and the thick post when I tip the blade. The cone can tip plenty far enough to allow the blade to show an unbalanced condition. I put a drop of silicone lubricant on the tip of the post to make it tip a bit easier. There were reports that none of the steps would fit some blades, so to make sure that the balancer will work with my blade, I took the blade off of the mower and tried it. It seems to fit on step 6. The steps on the Oregon balancer are different from the steps on my old plastic balancer, so maybe that can explain why some blades do not fit properly on it. The hole in my mower blade measures 22.45 mm in diameter. The step that the blade sits on measures 21.95 mm. So the step is 0.5 mm smaller than the hole in the blade. That had me worried that there would be too much slop, and I would not be able to center the blade well enough to balance it. But apparently that amount of slop has no negative effect since I could not get the blade to falsly show out of balance by moving it around on the cone. Out of curiosity, I measured the size of the step on my old plastic balancer, and it is the same as the new one, 21.95 mm. When I first tried the blade, it showed the blade slightly out of balance, so I filed off some of the blade on the heavy side and it now balances. I measured all 10 of the steps on the Oregon balancer, and here is what I found. All the measurements are in millimeters. Step 1 9.35 Step 2 10.95 Step 3 12.50 Step 4 15.70 Step 5 18.85 Step 6 21.95 Step 7 25.15 Step 8 28.40 Step 9 31.60 Step 10 34.75 So this seems to be a good product if you can get one that has not been damaged and it fits your blade.

I was expecting the balance to be a bit larger but it does the job ok so that’s all that matters

Works very good, wished I had known about this product sooner. Make sure to clean off debris as much as possible, and use a 60 grit flapper grinding wheel.

I didn't like it because I ordered metal but got plastic, I got fooled

llego sin problemas antes de lo esperado. aunque hay otros métodos para balancear la cuchillas después de afilarlas este es mas practico, es rápido y fácil de ocupar. Solo hay que ponerlo en una superficie nivelada y listo.
