Mike's back, Americana style and with added production depth. Its good.
Is this album 10 or 9 from mike Rosenberg? Doesn't matter - its a new album and its good. I like his voice, some don't. You could argue that the songs and lyrical themes (travel, yearning, lost love) sound very similar to previous Passenger outings. Maybe so, but the boy Mike has a knack with melody and these songs take you, this time, on a road trip of the States. His dad is from New Jersey so maybe Americana is in the blood? The other change this time is added production budget and wallop. Compare to his earlier albums and marvel at the depth and warmth and full sound and the evidence of a full band of backing musicians, His biggest sound so far. The whole set works well together with "heart to love" and "Eagle bear buffalo" (Yellowstone) being early stand outs. "ghost town" is quietest and reflects on Detroit where "they don't make cars like they used to". Note also "to be free" a story of Mike's grandparents journey to the US as refugees. Lush music for our troubled trumpy brexity times. Thanks Mike. How does he keep writing so many good songs?

Band or acoustic version ?
Mike Rozenberg is back with another ten very intelligent folky-pop tunes. For me, I have to listen to the acoustic versions first - very stark with just him and his guitar. I like this disc, but much prefer the full band and backing singers (The Once) - a much more full sound which suit the songs - and it's a bit of an anti-climax if 'acoustic' follows 'band'. Anyway, I think his music is much more suited to the band. Apart from the voices, he has a nice tight bunch of musicians - nice guitar work and all others all understated. No bad tracks, as ever, but my preference is 'band'.

Beautiful
Thank the Lord for Passenger ( Mike Rosenberg) a superb lyricist in an age of X factor dross. We have to look for Mike's poetry to fill the gap left by Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan in his prime. Eagle Bear Buffalo is truly beautiful.

another good one
I'm a recent convert to Passenger, and the albums seem to get better every time.Disc 2, which they call 'acoustic' is actually the better of the 2 disks. Maybe I just prefer to hear the man and the song without all the usual backing stuff.

Not his best but some good tracks
Good album, but compared to some of his older albums such as "All the little lights" and "Young as the morning old as the sea" this isn't his best work. I don't mean to sound harsh because I still like his music.
