Review: Great, simple book that helped me learn crochet - I really like this book. I decided to learn to crochet on vacation and took this on the airplane with me with a bit of practice yarn and some hooks. The illustrations are nice and i think do a good job explaining the different stitches. I spent maybe 4hrs on it and learned all the basic stitches. I'm going to try the pompom one next because it looks cool. Only downside is the book smells like chemicals, so it needs an air out for sure. For size, it's a little larger than normal paper, but pretty thin. I like the spiral binding to make it easy to flip between pages. Looking to buy another one of their books so I don't need internet to learn patterns Review: Extremely useful instructions and photos - I haven’t crochet for over 40yrs and wanted to puck it up again. This spiral bound instruction book is perfect. Every page is step-by-step instruction for various crochet stitches, added and subtracting rows as well as multi finishing techniques. I LOVE that this instruction book is not peppered with frivolous info that is not instructive. In addition to the wonderfulspiral binding, th front and back covers are waterproof and can be wiped clean, if needed. Very nice paper quality. Well annotated, close up, color photos of every step. This is a great, no frills, instruction manual. Great for beginners or as a refresher. Highly recommend. Just a qick FYI: This book dies not include instructions for the traditional ringed, triple crochet granny square.

Great book for beginners!
I decided to take up crochet. While there are tons of videos out there, and some have been helpful, I'm old school and like a book. This book is AWESOME!! It takes a lot of practice; it's been 3 weeks and I finally can make rows using a single crochet stitch that are even. If you follow the instructions in this book, you'll get there. This book covers everything: from yarn/hooks/tools to all of the different types of crochet techniques. I bought 2 books originally and returned the other as this one has been so easy to follow. Once I've mastered my techniques, I'll probably buy their other book that teaches you how to crochet actual projects.

An excellent, well organized & photographed book
If you want to learn how to crochet or are still a novice, this book would be a good place to begin or expand your learning journey. This book is spiral bound, a definite plus as it will always lay flat. It is well organized with a Table of Contents up front instead of an alphabetical index in the back. There are excellent color photos of each sample swatch followed with step by step color photos of each stitch. There are red arrows pointing out precisely where your hook must be inserted for each step of the stitch. The written instructions are clearly worded and placed directly below the picture of each step. It covers simple but helpful supplies. Hook sizes are shown. There is an overview of yarn types and weights. Th “Tips” are easily identified by outlined dashes. And finally, a number of finishing techniques are demonstrated. My only disappointment with this book is that some of the yarn used for the sample swatches looks like it is poor quality. The strands are loosely twisted, are more subject to splitting - your hook doesn’t catch all the strands for a neat stitch. These splits are often difficult to pull out when they are finally noticed a row or two later. Careful pulling (aka: frogging) is the way to correct the split stitch. I’ve been a “Happy Hooker” for more than 50 years. I’ve made hundreds of slippers, dozens of scarfs, some sweaters, a few leg and knee warmers, rugs and more blankets for charity, friends, children, cats and dogs than I can recall. Welcome to the club! I hope your journey is also a happy one.

Great little book, with a lot of good information!
This book has beautiful color photos that are clear and with good instructions. It was not damaged or moldy, like some reviews stated, and all of the pages were there in their correct order. There very definitely are instructions for doing the Basketweave, although one reviewer complained it wasn’t there. I bought 2 of these books and found no problems in either of them. It gives you instructions for a lot of stitches that I have never used, and it will be fun using them. The Chevron pattern clearly states that you need to use multiples of 10 + 1 stitches for this. That is what 1 Chevron stitch needs. I like that it gives you so much useful information, including showing many sizes of needles and explaining what the different types and uses there are for different sizes of yarns and the crochet hooks needed for them. I could easily learn to crochet with this book alone, and I’m sure that my daughter and granddaughter will love their book!

Perfect for Beginners
I had purchased two books from this company. This was my first. And all of it is essentially added to my other granny square book. This book arrived perfectly. My other one did not. Both positive and negative reviews are accurate. It’s a crap shoot that it will arrive w/unbended pages, pages right side up and in order. Printing is accurate. Colors and pictures are great. Info is perfect for beginner. Would purchase again. Good quality. Pages easily turn. All the basics for brand new beginner. Used a lot. Would be great to add in with a gift.

Great
I'm a beginner with crocheting and this is really a great book with simple steps to follow. Most importantly, the binding is so smart and it makes it so easy to read while practising at the same time. I do not have to constantly worry about keeping the book open. Highly recommended.

Want to learn about the various crochet stitches and techniques? This is it!
For beginners and those wanting to get back into it, this book is great. It isn't filled with projects, but with clear instructions on how to do the various stitches. I hadn't crocheted in decades and though I can look things up on YouTube and see how it's done, I really do like some clear pictorial instructions and this book is great for that.

Good Value ,Very Useful with excellent photos of each stage of a stitch
This spiral bound & soft cover stitch book has plenty of very useful and good quality photos of each stitch, so even a beginner can follow easily and with confidence. The spiral design is handy. The page design is well thought out, with each stitch illustrated on facing pages - so no flipping to get to next step - with clear and simple explanations. Author also made a point of using yarn colours that make following the creation of the stitch very simple. The table of contents shown in the ad makes it clear that this book does not contain the more complicated and less used stitches so you'll have to look elsewhere for those. However, the most frequently used stitches in afghans, sweaters, dishcloths, tea cosy's, etc. are here for fast and convenient reference. Also covers other basics like changing colours, fastening off, and finishing & edging. This would make a terrific and inexpensive stocking stuffing for a budding crafter or even an old gal like me that's forgotten some of these stiches.
