This easy step-by-step method emphasizes correct playing habits and note reading through interval recognition. Lesson Book 1B begins by reviewing the concepts taught in Lesson Book 1A, then introduces new concepts such as incomplete measures, tempo markings, eighth notes and rests, using the damper pedal, half steps and whole steps. It also introduces the major scale through the concept of tetrachords. Songs Include: Brother John * Carol in G Major * The Carousel * The Clown * Concert Time * A Cowboy's Song * The Cuckoo * French Lullaby * Good King Wenceslas * Good Morning to You! * Good Sounds * Grandpa's Clock * The Greatest Show on Earth! * G's in the BAG" * Hail to Thee, America! * Harp Song * Happy Birthday to You! * Indians * Join the Fun * The Magic Man * Money Can't Buy Everything * Music Box Rock * Oom-Pa-Pa! * Ping Pong * The Planets * The Rainbow * Sonatina * Step Right Up! * Waltz Time * When Our Band Goes Marching By! * When the Saints Go Marching In * The Whirlwind * The Windmill * Yankee Doodle" Review: Great, solid series - As a private piano teacher I am a big fan of the Alfred series. I love the interval approach from Book 1A, that continues throughout this book. There are a lot of familiar songs for the kids in this book, which they tend to like. I feel like by the end of this book, the students have a good grasp of playing in several basic positions, most of the notes on the regular staff, and rhythm up to (not including) the dotted quarter note. I like the way Alfred introduces movement out of a five finger hand position by adding sixths both up and down, sevenths, and then finally octaves to the student repetoire. Review: A great Lesson book! - My son used this book for his piano lessons. It was recommended by his piano teacher. The lessons are very helpful and it is easy to use. I would recommend it for any beginner piano student.

I have never been this determined to play an instrument. read below for my inspiring story👇👇👇
It all started when I really wanted to play the piano, suddenly, I found this old book on one of my shelves in my basement. Blowing off the thick layer of dust atop the cover of it, I opened it up and explored. This book happened to be book 1A. After completing that book in less than a month, I could finally move to level 1B. Now, a few weeks in, I still have my extremely strong pull in my heart to practice piano whenever I have the chance... MORAL OF THE STORY IS BUY THIS. 🤗 🤗 🤗

Fast delivery and decent price
I bought this book for my daughter as a requested by her piano teacher. Delivery was quick and the price was reasonable. My only complaint is that I wish they would sell these as multi volumes as she seems to go through them quickly.

My son and I like the book
My son (5 yr old) finished prep course level A and B. Instead of go into C, I decide switch him to regular course. This 1B is continuation from prep B. So far both I and my son like the material in 1B. There are lots of piano teaching methods out there: Alfred, Piano Adventure, Hal Leonard, John Thompson, Music Tree, Piano Town, just to name a few. There are also lots of debates on which method is better. One of the major criticism of Alfred basic piano library is that it's fixing student's hand position. We only onto 1B, so we don't know if it'll be a problem later on. But the music in these Alfred books are good. My son likes them and like to play them, that's all it matters. I also bought both Piano Adventure and Hal Leonard and I like the music in Alfred better.

Very good book for beginners
Our daughter's piano teacher recommended this one and two others in the same category (theory and solo). They are all very good practice books for early learners. The lessons are just the right size for an early learner. It is important to note that our daughter has a really good piano teacher (nobody in our family has any musical background) and that is why our daughter is able to benefit from this book. The point is that a good book like this one will only get you so far - unless you have a good teacher to go along with it.
