Pretty good mouse with ONE BIG FLAW - IT STOPS THE SCREENSAVER FROM TURNING ON.
I bought this mouse after my logitech wireless started being less responsive. This new mouse is small but not so small as to be uncomfortable in the hand.**Originally I gave it 5 stars, but I would CHANGE IT TO 3 STARS because of one flaw: IT STOPS YOUR SCREENSAVER FROM TURNING ON. **I couldn't figure out why my screen saver stopped turning on, and my monitor never went to sleep, until I unplugged this mouse and it started working again. I tested the theory on a friend's computer who has the same mouse and it's the same problem. Unless the mouse is unplugged, the screensaver does not turn on. We both have PCs, I have Windows XP and he has Windows Vista - so that's a big problem with the mouse.Other things to note:-- The picture of the USB connector seems to be wrong - it's actually just the little stick part - there is no piece that folds up. I see this as a benefit because it means the entire unit is even smaller, plus reception is still great. I have my USB connector plugged into the left side of my laptop and use my mouse with my right hand on a rolling keyboard holder, and the connection still remains strong. There is no skipping around or anything resulting from spotty reception.-- The laser is very strong and doesn't need any special surface to work properly. I've used it on a multitude of desks and it doesn't seem to matter; there is consistent good performance.-- There are no small buttons at the top which you could use to go "back" on the internet, unlike the earlier model.-- I didn't have to do anything to connect it - I plugged it in and it worked with Windows XP.Overall, 3 stars because it's a good product except the screensaver problem.

Does everything it's supposed to
The mouse works well: the motion, the action of the buttons, the scroll wheel, all good. Reliability is not an issue (as of one month). The case feels solid. Installation on XP was a non-issue, I just put a battery in the mouse and plugged the USB antenna into my computer, and it started right up. The mouse body has a place to store the antenna when not in use and inserting it there is the only formal way to "turn off" the mouse. However I leave the antenna plugged into the computer most of the time, therefore I never "turn off" the mouse, and as such I was originally concerned that the battery would run down quickly, but after one month of ownership the original battery is still going strong. The only issues were very minor: once when I plugged in the USB antenna the computer didn't recognize it, so I unplugged it & plugged it in again and it worked; no big deal. Also, the USB antenna sticks out about two inches and if you set your laptop down on an uneven surface you have to make sure it's not resting on the antenna in any way, or conceivably the twisting force could damage your USB port. Just be careful.Overall the mouse is great. I recommend it highly.

Not a good wireless mouse
Its been 10 months since I bought this mouse - I am extremely dissatisfied with this product.Problems that I had with this mouse:1. Extremely small range - Whats the point of a wireless mouse if you cant use it beyond one arm's length :S The range of this mouse if aweful - you move away from your receiver a little bit and signal will break down. There is no interference problem - I have already performed all tests to see if any interference is causing this - it turned out that this mouse wireless sucks !!2. The receiver started having problems after 4-5 months - it doesnt get power from USB - and keeps getting disconnected even if you touch it a little - you move your laptop a little - the mouse connectivity is gone !!3. The battery consumption is huge as compared to other wireless mouses I have used. You have to keep changing the batteries every month - the signal keeps going down every day and keeps getting disconnected after like 15 days. The only good thing about this mouse I found is the good design, nice button design. But overall - I didnt like this mouse at all - expected better from a company like Microsoft.

Nice Design But Doesn't Hold Up Well.
On the plus side, it's a nice size and fits my hand just right. I have two computers which share a single monitor, keyboard and mouse via an IOgear KVM switch. I was told you couldn't use a wireless mouse with a KVM switch, but guess what. You plug the little wireless doodad into the port in the KVM switch where you would plug in the mouse cable, and it works just fine. This is the first wireless mouse I've had, and I like being cord free. On the negative side, I got this mouse on June 3 of this year, and yesterday November 21, the scroll wheel went out on it, so it hasn't held up very well. I have also had intermittent trouble with the left mouse button. I used that canned air stuff that you use to clean a keyboard, and that helped. I will say, though, that I am on the computer quite a lot and I use the mouse a lot to play games and to operate my feed reader program. Still, I would expect a longer life span than 6 months.
