Great product but poor shipping.
My dog who is ill with end stage renal disease loves these treats, thank you. The shipping was not adequate. Sending a box of fragile dog treats in a plastic bag was poorly thought and many treats were crushed. I will still continue to purchase this product.

Best doggie treats for kidney issues
This is a great product for dogs with kidney issues. Our 14 year old lab loves them and they are gentle on her system.

I Am So Thankful these Exist!
When my baby boy was diagnosed with stage 2 ckd, I had to stop giving him everything he loved in life. Ok. That's an exaggeration. But his entire way of eating had to be changed. It was confusing to know what was ok for him to have and what was not. I'd read ten articles and get ten different answers. My little boy, Chewie, was used to getting a greenie bone every night before bed and they were no longer safe. Hard on the pup, and hard on the pups parent! Finally I decided we were going to turn this negative into a big positive. I started cutting up fresh, organic fruit that we would share in bed before going to sleep. He loved it. A friend of mine in London knew Chewie's diagnosis. Knowing how much I love him, she sent us a box of Mattie's treats. They are perfect!! Chewie absolutely LOVES them! These treats are hard, though. Chewie needed me to break them up for him. This was a problem: my hands are getting a little arthritic. I started placing the treat in a small container and adding just enough bottled water to cover it. Just let the treat soak in the water for 5-10 minutes and it softens up just right! You can easily break the treat apart with your hands, and it's much easier for little dogs with smaller mouths and missing teeth to eat! Also, ckd dogs require moisture rich foods, so this is another reason to give it this added hydration. This treat change, along with a food change to Dr Harveys Canine Health, looks like it's helping! Chewie's kidney values (BUN and creatinine) were too high one year ago. Last week we redid the blood work and did a UA. HIS RESULTS ARE NORMAL on BOTH. His appetite is great, he's playful, and I couldn't be more thankful! We are repeat buyers of Mattie's treats and highly recommend them!

Foolproof treat my Stage 3 kidney disease Labrador will eat
Sometimes, when your chronic kidney disease BFF-dog just won't eat, you start grasping at straws. These treats were one of my straws. Figured there was very little to lose, given my 14 yr old labrador's stage 3 prognosis. And through all the ups and downs with her condition, these treats have been something my formerly ravenous labrador almost always enjoys snacking on. Fun to see her get excited about a treat, and also a great distraction when administering SubQ fluids. Easily breakable into smaller pieces, they can be great for all sizes of dogs, and most types of medium to poor dental situations. They are crunchy - so if your dog is soft-food only, you'll want to do-what-you-do to make sure food is chewable. Like most reviewers, I am fully trusting the company's info on ingredients and nutritional values. (I know, dangerous really). I don't have the $ to test the treats myself, and sure wish there were some 3rd party testing results that reinforce the owner's test results. Packaging is useless (sorry Mattie's parents, but true). Every cardboard container I've received is basically an expensive, cardboard envelope that's open on both ends by the time it arrives at my house. The plastic crinkly bag inside is in semi-sad shape and never airtight. But the treats still seem to be in good condition; they do arrive within 2 days of order. I would LOVE it if the company would stop wasting money on cardboard boxes, and design an airtight, recyclable, flexible container for the treats instead. All said and done, I've been ordering these treats for months, stage 3 kidney disease dog. She loves them. And anytime I can brighter her day, is a good day.

Thankful for these
My little dog with almost no teeth can handle these if broken up which is easily done. She is on a restricted diet due to kidney failure. Her journey here is almost at an end and the ability to give her treats and make her happy is priceless.

A no go for my little one.
My small dog has kidney failure. Looking for a bit of variety for her treats that she can enjoy between meals. Anyone that has a dog with kidney failure knows eating is a challenge every day. Smell and texture of their food plays a big factor when they do not have a big appetite and teeth issues due to the illness. I knew these were hard biscuits when I ordered them and assumed I would be able to soften them with warm water like I do her Hill K/D, dry. I placed a few in a baggie and broke them up into smaller pieces before soaking. Sadly, they never really softened up. Also, no smell. These biscuits are a no-go for my dog. Guess I am sticking with Fruitables and Hills prescription treats for her.

Now my little dog with kidney disease can have yummy treats too!
These treats are safe for my doggie with kidney disease. He loves them and I can see why. They smell good, not like so many treats that smell old and stale or like chemicals. They’re the consistency of Milkbone so they’re hard but not too dense. I break them in half or thirds for my tiny little guy.
