This is one of the best starter sets introduced by Lionel! Starting off with a dual motor diesel with unique Lehigh Valley announcements, diesel engine sounds as well has horn & bell. Three options for remote control; inculed remote, optional Lionel Universal remote or BlueTooth phone/tablet app. Nice 40" x 60" oval of track with both terminal straight and Plug-N-Play straight section. Nice looking box car, fun hopper with removable coal load and caboose. (I do wish Lionel had put a light in the caboose...)The set sets-up quickly and the engine performance is superb! Can't go wrong with this one!

i got into model trains over 50 years ago i started with n-scale then ho-scale and now o-scale , i got my first started set lionel nickle plate steam engine and then a rs3 diseal engine set , i have been running lionel o-scale trains sets for the past 20 years and love them on a lionel youtube 4x8 board build ever since with three active tracks , so good thank you amazon for a great deal on a train set for a old railroader like me...lol

A simple concept, unless I fumbled my research "Lehigh valley 504, is a diesel engine, why followed by the coal car? Would make more sense to be followed by an oiler?

Like the fastrack and the remote control is great track is easy to assemble

Heavy/ great quality

When the item arrived I noticed that there were a few tears on the front of the box, and the box itself was wrapped in a large plastic bag with a sticker that stated “sealed at the factory”. I thought it was odd…I was right. My son was so excited to receive this Christmas morning, but when he opened the box there was random thick packaging inside rather than 3 of the 4 trains that should have been included. Needless to say Christmas morning was ruined.
